February 11, 2012 :: 10 AM to 2:30 PM :: MATC Downtown Room M605 (700 W. State St.)
We are Milwaukee. We are labor and community organizations. We are building an independent organization to take on issues, elections, mobilizations and organizing to fight for social and economic justice.
We are holding our inaugural convening, bringing together leaders, activists, members and staff from the organizations that make up our coalition along with unaffiliated community leaders and activists. We are beginning a new era for Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and our nation by building an organization of, by and for working people. It all begins here.
At the convening, we will lay out the who/what/why/how of We Are Milwaukee, including where you fit in as an activist and a leader. We'll have a great keynote address and you won't just be sitting in your seats -- you'll be participating in the program yourself. We'll lay out how we can take on the Walker recall, advance a good jobs & economic fairness agenda, and elect champions for us at the local level.
This historic convening will be the kickoff of building an amazing organization of our own and the creation of a new day in Milwaukee.
