Students will learn advanced visual art techniques that will prepare them with a portfolio for high school applications to schools like Baltimore School for the Arts, the Baltimore Design School and other art based schools. Students in advanced art will demonstrate mastery in art critiques, art history, and creative/technical skills.
Students will learn the art of singing through exposure to musical elements, sight singing, solfeggio and musical literature. Participants will perform at concerts, festivals and city/school events. Students wishing to take band, must ALSO enroll in choir.
Students taking computer science should have a high interest in technology, computers, and the math and sciences. Computer science students will learn to code to design their own games and practice a variety of problem-solving techniques.
Alternatively, students not enrolled in a MAJOR course will take a trimester-long class of each of the three contents. These portfolio classes will provide a beginning foundation and will prepare students to take additional course work in later years if an interest is developed.
