Competition Fee: $40 per student
The "competition fee" I assess each student goes towards covering a number of tournament and program related expenses. First, many tournaments charge a "school fee" that teams must pay for entering a competition. Second, most tournaments are 10-12+ hours in length, and the fee helps to compensate myself, and any assistant coaches I may need to bring on board, for my/our time and transportation. Third, in order to chaperone and coach at tournaments, I personally cannot run and must cancel several of my classes that take place on weekend dates, resulting in an opportunity cost to me. Fourth, processing and managing tournament entries in and of itself is a time consuming task. Fifth and finally, please note that this fee will vary depending on several factors, namely the: distance, length, and travel expenses required of the competition as well as the number of students interested in the competition to split all of the aforementioned costs.
