Survey: Open Data Portal/Program Costs
The Sunlight Foundation Local Team is working with mid-sized cities to advance open data practice as part of the What Works Cities initiative, and, as we support cities that are just getting started with open data, we often hear the question, "How much is this going to cost?".
In order to give an empirical and realistic answer to city leaders on the "cost question", we are conducting a short survey on what cities are spending annually on open data portals and other program costs. Please help us out by completing this survey so that we and city halls across the country can have a clearer idea of the financial costs behind implementing an open data program.
Please be aware that the Sunlight Foundation does plan to share survey results openly online and with other cities, although there will be an opt-out option if you wish for your city's survey response to be kept anonymous. If a respondent does opt out, the name of the city will be kept anonymous, but we will publish the region and the approximate population size so that trend analysis and geographic and population comparisons can be made.
We can't thank you enough for your participation in this survey.
