First Annual Summit on Emerging Issues in Social Work Practice: Clinical Social Work in Medical Settings

This summit provides an opportunity for social workers, field instructors, students, and faculty to dialogue on the current trends of clinical social work in medical settings. Topics covered include articulating clinical social work practice in medical settings, writing supervision plans for the MN Board of Social Work, the role of social workers on the interdisciplinary team, and professional leadership and advocacy for social work in medical settings. Time will be spent learning about and discussing current trends, challenges, and successes, developing action plans, and developing opportunities for collaboration. Summit Learning Objectives: • Identify clinical social work practice skills in a medical setting • Learn about the MN Board of Social Work clinical licensure and supervision requirements • Articulate the multiple dimensions of the role of social workers on the interdisciplinary medical team • Identify opportunities for leadership and advocacy for the profession as it relates to social work in medical settings The summit will include a panel discussion with leaders in MN social work practice and policy and breakout sessions on the topics outlined above. *Continuing education certificate of attendance will be provided to attendees
