Nutrition Education Action Team Volunteer Application Spring 2013

MISSION & GENERAL INFO: NEAT’s goal is to support the well being of SJSU students through nutrition education. NEAT trains and recruits students wanting hands‐on nutrition education experience and provides 75 hours/semester of non‐hospital dietetic internship hours (1st semester) and 50 hours/semester (subsequent semesters). NEAT also counts as 150 Kinesiology internship hours. NEAT is a part of the Wellness & Health Promotion office in the Student Health Center and is a recognized student organization. NEAT students have completed nutrition coursework and are trained to provide presentations, tabling events, and health awareness weeks to SJSU students. REQUIREMENT CHECKLIST 􀀀Completed NuFS 9 or 8 and received a “B” or better. 􀀀Attend one of two mandatory info sessions on Friday, December 7th in the Student Union Almaden Room (1-3pm) OR December 10th in the Health Center Room 208 (3-5pm). 􀀀Availability during the semester to help with events and presentations. 􀀀Attend the weekly meetings every Monday 3:30pm-5:30pm 􀀀Attend the mandatory training on January 26th and 27th 􀀀Deliver at least 2 presentations to SJSU students. 􀀀Prepare, market, and participate in 2‐3 campus outreach events. 􀀀Cover the reception desk for one hour/week. This one‐hour/week commitment involves answering questions about services provided by Wellness and Health Promotion, dispensing condoms through the condom co‐op, booking appointments for the massage chair, and representing the peer health programs to the campus community.
