ADAPTIVE SPORTS

ANGEL RUNNERS
Help ensure that everyone can take part in local running events by pushing a child with disabilities in a special race wheelchair. Program director Olivia Wheeler.
ARC CHRISTIAN HOUSE
Socialize and become friends with residents of an ARC Group home on Jane Drive in Glenville on Mondays, 6:00-7:00 pm. starting late September. Program director Alia Acosta
ARC YORKSHIRE HOUSE
Help the residents at an ARC Group home make crafts, play games and just hang out at their group home near the end of Heritage Parkway in Glen Oaks on Thursdays, 6:00-7:00 pm. starting late September. Program directors Natalie Bean
BEVERAGE RECYCLING
Collect and sort more than 15,000 recycled cans and bottles from around the school every other Tuesday after school in B-10 cafeteria starting in Late September. Program directors Abby Marola and Katie Gallagher
BUDDIES
Assist students with multiple disabilities in the A-11 BOCES Classroom at least one study hall per week during periods 2, 3, 4, 8, or 9. Program director Rachel Rankin
LIBRARY HELPERS
Sort, stack, organize and assist the school librarian at the Sacandaga Elementary School Library every Wednesday after school starting in October. Program director Braeden Ossenfort
MISSION MEALS
Greet, serve, setup and socialize at the Community Meal for the hungry and needy of Schenectady. Bus from SGHS to Schenectady City Mission twice a month on Tuesday or Thursday nights starting September 22. Program directors Emily Conti and Bri McGlauflin
PAPER RECYCLING
Collect the recycled paper and containers from classroom bins on Wednesday mornings before homeroom. Program Directors Lauren Zeglen and Alexis Zatlokowicz.
READING BUDDIES
On Tuesday and Wednesday right after school students walk to Sacandaga Elementary and read one on one to kindergarten students until they are dismissed at 3:05 Program Directors Emily McCarthy and Sophia Schaub.
SHELTER HELPERS (Must be at least 15 )
Visit the Montgomery County SPCA every other Saturday morning to walk dogs, help with cats, and other shelter needs. Bus leaves SGHS at 8:30 am and returns before 11:00. Program director Cassie Rumfelt
SISTERS
Play games, do crafts and bond with girls from Sacandaga who could use the positive influence of an older “sister”. Meets every other Wednesday from 3:00 - 4:00. Program directors Christina Bianchi, Katelyn Murtaugh and Lauren Sill.
SOCIAL SENIORS
Become friends with active seniors living at the Meadows of Glenwyck (behind Walmart) by taking part in fun intergenerational social activities every other Wednesday from 7 - 8:00. You must provide your own transportation. Program director Maggie Owen
SPECIAL EVENTS
Get notifications of the many local and school events you can take part in that need volunteers throughout the year. Program director Kali Carlisle
WEEKEND BACKPACK PROGRAM
Once a month GIVE students go to the City Mission warehouse and fill over 350 backpacks with food for students in the Schenectady school district to have over the weekend. Starts September 19. Program directors Lillian Cremo and Ciara Van Patten
