ORGANIZATION ACTION REQUESTED: Sign on to two letters to the U.S. Congress asking for increased funding for federal programs targeted to homeless children and youth.

SUMMARY OF LETTER TO SENATE & HOUSE APPROPRIATORS FOR RUNAWAY AND HOMELESS YOUTH ACT & EDUCATION FOR HOMELESS CHILDREN AND YOUTH ACT FUNDING

This letter asks the U.S. Congress to allocate the following funding in their fiscal year 2018 spending bill:
- $165 million for the Runaway and Homeless Youth Act (RHYA) programs
- $2 million for the national prevalence, needs, and characteristics of homeless youth in America authorized by RHYA
- $85 million for the McKinney-Vento Education for Homeless Children and Youth (EHCY) Program

SUMMARY OF LETTER TO SENATE & HOUSE APPROPRIATORS FOR HUD HOMELESS ASSISTANCE GRANT FUNDING AND IMPROVED PROGRAM REQUIREMENTS FOR YOUTH AND YOUNG ADULTS

This letter asks the U.S. Congress to allocate the following funding in their fiscal year 2018 spending bill:
- $2.487 billion for HUD's McKinney-Vento Homeless Assistance Grants program (this would be a $237,000,000 increase)
- $40 million for another series of Youth Homelessness Demonstration Project grants
- Language which clarifies that all children, youth and families who meet other federal definitions of homelessness should be eligible for HUD homeless assistance
