In collaboration, with the 40th anniversary of Seneca College's Baseball for Spring Training Class, SABR Day will be celebrated by welcoming our special guest speaker, Shi Davidi, Toronto Blue Jays columnist. Boasting an extensive national and global journalism career, Shi Davidi joined Sportsnet in 2011 as a MLB Insider and columnist for sportsnet.ca. As one of Sportsnet’s leading baseball insiders, Davidi brings fans the latest news from the Toronto Blue Jays clubhouse and from around the major leagues. It will be a spirited and highly engaged conversation for everyone to enjoy. We'll also hear from David Matchett on "What is a Canadian?" on the question of national identity. In addition, SABR President Allen Tait will be presenting his latest research called When is the winning run actually scored? – Impact on in game strategy. The research tracked the actual inning the winning run was scored for each regular season game in 2017. The purpose was to provide some real game data to supplement the often anecdotal debates for issues such as: is the 9th inning truly the “closer” inning?; Should your best hitters lead off? The results provide some interesting insights into these and other in game strategies.
