MORNING DAILY MASS

All are invited to join the Augustinians for Daily Mass at 7:15 a.m. in the St. Augustine Chapel, which is the smaller Chapel located inside the Shrine Chapel.  Every Wednesday the 7:15 a.m. Mass will be celebrated in Latin.  All are welcome!

SUMMER SERVICE PROJECT

St. Rita students are invited to take part in our Summer Service Trip to Asheboro, North Carolina working with Habitat for Humanity.  The trip is Sunday, June 4th through Sunday, June 11th and the cost is $150 per student.  Forms and more information is now available from Mr. Blaszak in The Campus Ministry Center.

PRIDE WEEK T-SHIRTS

Pride Week t-shirt pre-order sales begin today and will go through the rest of the week. The designs are posted up in Campus Ministry and at the end of each hallway.  Shirt order forms are available on-line and they will be available during your lunch period outside of the dining hall as well.  Please turn in order forms and money to Ms. Yanez in room 211 or Mr. Blaszak.

ART SCHOLARSHIP OPPORTUNITY

The St. Rita Augustinian Friars are sponsoring an art scholarship competition for any student currently attending St. Rita High School. The art work must have a subject matter that relates visually to the history of the Augustinians, i.e. the life of St. Augustine or any Augustinian saint or anything to do with the Shrine Chapel. A written piece that supports the artists choices must accompany the visual art piece. See Mrs. Kurnat in the Art Studio or V.L.C. or Ms. Dion in room 201 for details.

MCDONALD’S GAME

Coach DeCesare was selected to coach the west team in the McDonald’s game on March 29 at the United Center. If anybody interested in purchasing  tickets see Coach DeCesare for a flyer to purchase tickets at 40% discount.

CHICAGO POLICE AND FIREFIGHTER TRAINING ACADEMY

The CPFTA Program application process is for current high school sophomore students (Public & Private schools) that live in Chicago. IBEW-NECA TECHNICAL INSTITUTE OF THE ELECTRICAL APPRENTICE

Registration for the communication program will take place at the IBEW-NECA Technical Institute March 20th through March 31st, 9:00 am - 11:00 am. All applicants must report in person and bring in your valid Driver’s License and original Social Security Card. More information is posted in the Guidance Office.

Camp Cardiac is a 1-week summer day camp open to high school students (including current seniors) at least 15 years of age as of the first day of the assigned session. Although Camp Cardiac’s primary focus is on care of the heart, it provides an excellent starting point for careers in all fields of medicine. More information is available at www.campcardiac.org. COLLEGE CONNECT 2017 DEPAUL UNIVERSITY SUMMER PROGRAM

College Connect is a free 5-week summer program for Chicago high school sophomores and juniors, July 5 - August 4, 2017. For an application and more information, go to www.tinyurl.com/coco2017.

SAINTS & SCHOLARS SUMMER THEOLOGY INSTITUTE

Holy Cross College in Notre Dame, IN is offering a week long experience during the week of July 16 and July 23. This opportunity is led by Holy Cross faculty, involves community based learning experiences with service hours and allows you to explore how theology relates to public health, human rights, sustainability, media, science, sports or business. The cost is $325 for the week with additional aid for those in need. Students who are interested in attending should see Mr. Blaszak.

JUNIORS

The United States Naval Academy in Annapolis Maryland is now accepting applications from current high school Juniors for the Academy graduating class of 2022. In order to apply a candidate may log on the usna.edu and click on the preliminary application. Complete the application and click submit. All those applying between January 13 and April 1 will be considered for attending one of the three summer sessions.

KIDGUARD ESSAY SCHOLARSHIP OPPORTUNITY FOR JUNIORS/SENIORS

Kidguard is offering a $500 - $1,000 scholarship opportunity for juniors and seniors who submit an essay on the topic of cyberbullying. Applicants must apply to the contest via email to apply@kidguard.com and provide their contact information and a verification of full time enrollment at a high school. CHARLES SCHWEIZER HISTORY ESSAY CONTEST

All students are eligible to participate in this statewide History essay contest dealing with an event associated with the War of 1812. The winning essay will receive $1,000, second place winner $200, and the third place winner $100. Any student interested should get the rules for the essay contest from Mrs. Nagel in the Guidance Center.

Entry deadline is May 30, 2017.

HELEN WHALEN HIGHER EDUCATION SCHOLARSHIP

Must be a senior ranking in the upper 25% of his graduating class and has attended at least one school year in a District 123 school, Oak Lawn-Hometown. See Mrs. Nagel in the Guidance Office for an application.

Application deadline is March 25, 2017.

MONARCH AWARDS FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIP

Must be a senior attending Chicago Metropolitan Area High School planning to attend an accredited four-year college or university and has a minimum GPA of 3.0. Essays, recommendations and transcript is required along with the application. Applications are available at https://media.wix.com/ugd.

Application deadline is March 31, 2017. 

ILLINOIS MASONIC SCHOLARSHIP

Must be a senior with a minimum B average. Must submit an application, short essay and recommendations. See Mrs. Nagel in the Guidance Office for an application.

Application deadline is April 1, 2017.

ALBERICO SCHOLARSHIP FOUNDATION

Must be a senior with financial need who have demonstrated both academic achievement and leadership in their school and community. Applicants must have a minimum GPA of 3.0 and rank in the top 20% of his class.

WILLIAM J. COOK SCHOLARSHIP

Must be a senior who is male attending a high school in Cook County, Illinois and plan to enroll in a full-time undergraduate course of study at an accredited four-year college or university. Recipients are selected on the basis of both merit and financial need. Applications must be submitted online at www.scholarsapply.org/williamjcook.

Application deadline in April 15, 2017. 

CHICAGO ENGINEERS FOUNDATION

Seniors who will study engineering in college and have received acceptance from an accredited undergraduate engineering program should apply for this renewable scholarship through the Chicago Engineers Foundation. This scholarship is also a networking opportunity in the engineering field. Applications are available at www.chicagoengineersfoundation.org/applications. See Mrs. Nagel if you have any questions. KIDS CHANCE OF ILLINOIS

Must be a senior with financial need and be a child of a parent who has passed away or seriously injured as a result of a work related accident the meets the criteria of the Illinois Workers’ Compensation Act. Applications are available at www.kidschanceofillinois.com.
