MORNING DAILY MASS

All are invited to join the Augustinians for Daily Mass at 7:15 a.m. in the St. Augustine Chapel, which is the smaller Chapel located inside the Shrine Chapel.  Every Wednesday the 7:15 a.m. Mass will be celebrated in Latin.  All are welcome!

R.O.S.E. HOUR OPPORTUNITY

There are a number of after school opportunities available to complete R.O.S.E hours.  Stop by Campus Ministry today and check out the signup sheets.  For those who have completed ROSE hours make sure you log them in to x2VOL.

CHICAGO POLICE AND FIREFIGHTER TRAINING ACADEMY

The CPFTA Program application process is for current high school sophomore students (Public & Private schools) that live in Chicago. SPRING AND SUMMER INTERNSHIPS

Spring and summer internships are open for high school juniors and seniors at Beverly Area Planning Association.  Interns help with office duties as well as events that include the Home Tour, Ridge Run and Memorial Day Parade, and Beverly Hills Cycling Classic. Interested students should send an email with a little about yourself, your skills and your availability to Margot Holland, BAPA Executive Director, mholland@bapa.org.  More information about this opportunity is in Campus Ministry.

YOU ARE MY NEIGHBOR EVENT

Ritamen are needed at the You Are My Neighbor event on Thursday evening, March 2nd @ St. Barnabas Church 10134 S. Longwood Drive. Volunteers will get ROSE hours. There is a sign-up sheet in Campus Ministry.

KAIROS #129 PERMISSION SLIP

Juniors who are attending Kairos #129 in April are asked to return their completed Permission Slips & Medical Forms to Mr. Blaszak in The Campus Ministry Center by Tuesday, February 28th.

APRIL ACT TEST

Friday, March 3rd is the last day to register for the April 8th test without a late fee.

VARSITY HOCKEY SATURDAY

The hockey team begins state playoffs tomorrow with a big game against Carmel Catholic. Puck drops at 5:10 at Southwest Ice Arena. Come out and support the boys!!

KIDGUARD ESSAY SCHOLARSHIP OPPORTUNITY FOR JUNIORS/SENIORS

Kidguard is offering a $500 - $1,000 scholarship opportunity for juniors and seniors who submit an essay on the topic of cyberbullying. Applicants must apply to the contest via email to apply@kidguard.com and provide their contact information and a verification of full time enrollment at a high school. Camp Cardiac is a 1-week summer day camp open to high school students (including current seniors) at least 15 years of age as of the first day of the assigned session. Although Camp Cardiac’s primary focus is on care of the heart, it provides an excellent starting point for careers in all fields of medicine. More information is available at www.campcardiac.org. SAINTS & SCHOLARS SUMMER THEOLOGY INSTITUTE

Holy Cross College in Notre Dame, IN is offering a week long experience during the week of July 16 and July 23. This opportunity is led by Holy Cross faculty, involves community based learning experiences with service hours and allows you to explore how theology relates to public health, human rights, sustainability, media, science, sports or business. The cost is $325 for the week with additional aid for those in need. Students who are interested in attending should see Mr. Blaszak.

CHICAGO ENGINEERS FOUNDATION

Seniors who will study engineering in college and have received acceptance from an accredited undergraduate engineering program should apply for this renewable scholarship through the Chicago Engineers Foundation. This scholarship is also a networking opportunity in the engineering field. Applications are available at www.chicagoengineersfoundation.org/applications. See Mrs. Nagel if you have any questions. Application deadline is April 24, 2017.

JUNIORS

The United States Naval Academy in Annapolis Maryland is now accepting applications from current high school Juniors for the Academy graduating class of 2022. In order to apply a candidate may log on the usna.edu and click on the preliminary application. Complete the application and click submit. All those applying between January 13 and April 1 will be considered for attending one of the three summer sessions.

ADLAI STEVENSON STUDENT OPINION ESSAY

The Stevenson Center invites high school students to write original short opinion pieces or multi-media presentations on topics that affect public policy. Three winning essays will receive $250 each and the first prize essay will be published on their website. Any student interested should get the rules for the essay contest from Mrs. Nagel in the Guidance Center. Entry deadline is March 15, 2017

CHARLES SCHWEIZER HISTORY ESSAY CONTEST

All students are eligible to participate in this statewide History essay contest dealing with an event associated with the War of 1812. The winning essay will receive $1,000, second place winner $200, and the third place winner $100. Any student interested should get the rules for the essay contest from Mrs. Nagel in the Guidance Center.

Entry deadline is May 30, 2017.

TOWNSHIP OFFICIALS OF ILLINOIS SCHOLARSHIP

Must be a senior who plans to attend a university/college in Illinois with a minimum 3.0 GPA, involved in extracurricular activities, service and is a leader. Recommendations, transcript, essay and an interview with an elected township official is required. See Mrs. Nagel in the Guidance Office for an application. Seven $1,500 scholarships awarded.

Application deadline is March 1, 2017.

2017 CRCA SCHOLARSHIP

The Chicago Roofing Contractors Association will award two renewable scholarships to seniors who were accepted into the liberal arts and sciences, engineering, architecture or business programs. The recipient will be determined by academic performance, minimum ACT score of 29, faculty recommendation, extracurricular activities, employment experience, and a demonstrated interest in a productive career. Applications are available at www.CRCA.org/scholarship.

Application deadline is March 3, 2017.

FUELING THE MINDS OF THE FUTURE SCHOLARSHIP

Must be a senior who resides in the Chicagoland area with a minimum GPA of 2.5, will enroll as a full time student in an accredited two or four year college or university, trade or vocational school in the U.S. and demonstrates financial need. Application deadline is March 13, 2017. 

ITALIAN CATHOLIC FEDERATION SCHOLARSHIP

Must be a senior of Italian descent with a minimum GPA of 3.2. Applications are available at www.icf.org.

Application deadline is March 15, 2017.

HELEN WHALEN HIGHER EDUCATION SCHOLARSHIP

Must be a senior ranking in the upper 25% of his graduating class and has attended at least one school year in a District 123 school, Oak Lawn-Hometown. See Mrs. Nagel in the Guidance Office for an application.

Application deadline is March 25, 2017.

ILLINOIS MASONIC SCHOLARSHIP

Must be a senior with a minimum B average. Must submit an application, short essay and recommendations. See Mrs. Nagel in the Guidance Office for an application.

Application deadline is April 1, 2017.

ALBERICO SCHOLARSHIP FOUNDATION

Must be a senior with financial need who have demonstrated both academic achievement and leadership in their school and community. Applicants must have a minimum GPA of 3.0 and rank in the top 20% of his class.

KIDS CHANCE OF ILLINOIS

Must be a senior with financial need and be a child of a parent who has passed away or seriously injured as a result of a work related accident the meets the criteria of the Illinois Workers’ Compensation Act. Applications are available at www.kidschanceofillinois.com.

Application deadline is April 30, 2017.

B. DAVIS SCHOLARSHIP

ABBOTT AND FENNER SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM
