We are proud to be a mixed income CSA and maintain a two tiered pricing structure to ensure that the shares remain accessible to everyone in our community. We can now accept payments made with food stamps/EBT cards.
If the combined income of all persons sharing the share falls within the ranges listed below, you qualify for a PARK plan. If you plan to share your vegetable share with roommates or other adults, you should consider everyone's combined income to determine if you are eligible. Income includes wages, social security, parental support, public assistance, student loans, unemployment benefits, and retirement benefits. You are eligible for a reduced price PARK plan if you and your share partner(s) are:
1 person earning less than $26,000 annually
2-3 people with a combined income of less than $35,000 annually
4 people with a combined income of less than $47,000 annually
5 or more people with a combined income of less than $55,000 annually
A limited number of PARK shares are available. While we will try to accommodate as many households as possible, we cannot guarantee that PARK shares will be available for everyone who requests one.
Unfortunately fruit, egg, coffee, and bread shares cannot be subsidized.
Checks should be made out to "Sunset Park CSA" and should include the type of shares purchased (weekly vegetable, every other week fruit, etc) and the name of the primary member.
Payments can also be made using Chase QuickPay. This is very simple if you have a Chase account.
Shares are available on a first-come, first-served basis. We are not able to reserve a share for you until we receive your full payment or deposit.
If you are able to make a full payment at this time, we encourage you to do so. These funds help MimoMex Farm buy the equipment, seeds and supplies needed to grow food for us. If you choose to make a deposit at this time, full payment is due by May 31, 2017 for both SUNSET Plan and PARK Plan shares unless a payment plan has been agreed to in advance.
A flexible monthly payment option is available for PARK Plan share members. We can also accept payments made with food stamps/EBT cards.
Please contact the CSA by email at email@example.com or by phone at 347-460-1477 if you have questions, would like to arrange a flexible payment plan or would like to learn more about how to pay with your EBT card.
I commit to membership in the Sunset Park CSA with MimoMex Farm for the 2017 growing season. As a member, I commit myself to supporting the farm with timely payments. In addition, I commit to pick up my weekly delivery on Wednesdays at St. Michael’s Church, 352 42nd Street, between 5:30 and 7:30 pm. I may arrange for a friend or family member to pick up my share if I’m unable to. I understand that if I do not pick up my share by 7:30pm, it will not be saved for me.
The CSA Share-Product Variety
As a member of the CSA, I will receive a share consisting of 7-10 different vegetables for either 22 weeks (Weekly share) or 11 weeks (Every Other Week) starting in June. The shares will vary in size and weight depending on the time of the season and the bounty of the harvest. I understand that although the farmers will aim to supply me with an ample quantity of many different vegetables, there is no guarantee that any specific vegetable, or any specific quantity, will be distributed in the Farm Share.
I agree to support MimoMex Farm, Tello Farms, and Soons Orchard by sharing in the inherent risks of agriculture (poor weather, drought, disease, early frost, crop failure and so on) and rewards (the bounty from a good season) involved in farming. This means that if farmers are unable to bring the produce on any given week, I will not receive a refund for any money paid to the farmers. I understand that CSA farmers carefully plan for such contingencies, and use growing techniques that protect the harvest, minimize risk to members, and optimize the rewards, and I commit to partnering with MimoMex Farm, Tello Farms, and Soons Orchards in the shared risk model.
I understand that the Sunset Park CSA is a volunteer-run community organization and participation of all its members is necessary in order to ensure the smooth operations of the weekly CSA distribution, and the CSA's continued success. I therefore commit to schedule and complete two, 2 hour, work shifts during the growing season (June-November 2017). If this is not possible, I will make alternate arrangements in advance with the Sunset Park CSA.
If our household consists of 3 or more adults splitting a CSA share, we may be asked to do an additional work shift.
If I miss or if I am late to my scheduled work shift, I understand that I may not remain a member in good standing.
This year, the CSA will be using Sign Up Genius to keep track of CSA work shifts online. When you sign up for a CSA share, you will receive an email from Jen Bricker (our work shift coordinator) to sign up for your work shift through Sign Up Genius. You can also sign up on paper at distribution, or by contacting us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
