Survey of Development Workflows and Practices
This is a survey intended to assess and learn about the best practices of open source hardware development and documentation. The first goal is to identify existing methods and procedures, as used by various open hardware projects worldwide, and to determine a comprehensive list of steps that can be applied to hardware development in general. These results will be published openly below this Form on the OSE wiki.

What is your name and email?
Please let us know how to contact you - if you would like to collaborate on OSE's open hardware development method.
What are the best examples of available development and documentation platforms/tools/practices/methodologies for open hardware development? *
In addition to frameworks or overall procedures for development, you can also point to specific steps or procedures, and procedures for them - such as the best tool for 3D CAD.
Summarize how the platforms/tools/practices that you listed work, or how they are effective or ineffective. *
Also share the keys to why the platforms/tools/practices may be effective.
Explain the strengths and weaknesses of the platforms/procedures/steps/tools that you listed. *
We would like to hear your feedback and assessment on what works and what doesn't.
Do you have suggestions on how the platforms/tools/practices can be improved? *
There are many missing pieces in open development, and we would like to identify these.
What is needed the most for open hardware development methods to be more effective? *
You can point to multiple needs.
How effective is open hardware development today in terms of its ability to build upon past work to accelerate problem-solving? *
Please provide your assessment.
What do you think is the most significant advantage of open source hardware development compared to the proprietary route? How about the disadvantage? *
Are there other questions that we should be asking here but are not?
Comments are welcome.
