You're invited to apply to present at "The Art of Teaching and Learning to the Common Core"
GothamSchools is excited to present "The Art of Teaching and Learning to the Common Core," a discussion of the new English language arts standards grounded in the work of New York City teachers and students. The event, which will take place in the evening of Nov. 26, will begin with an informal gallery-style exhibition by teachers working to help their students meet Common Core standards in writing. Then, in a panel discussion moderated by GothamSchools, three educators will use the exhibits as the starting point for a conversation about the challenges and opportunities of implementing the Common Core.
We are looking for middle and high school teachers who are eager to share their students' progress toward meeting the new standards. Teachers who are selected to participate will present a selection of student work demonstrating achievement on Writing Standard #1, "Write arguments to support claims with clear reasons and relevant evidence." Ideally, teachers would present examples of student growth over a unit of study.
To apply to be a presenter, please fill out this short form by Nov. 12. And feel free to contact GothamSchools with questions at firstname.lastname@example.org.
