*EQAO Committee

We’re excited to announce the creation of the EQAO Student Advisory Committee, whose role will be to represent the student voice in the agency’s activities. The Student Advisory Committee is the fourth and newest committee within our governance structure. The others are the EQAO Advisory Committee, the Modernization in Measurement Advisory Panel and the Equity Council.

Students are the focus of EQAO’s work, and we value learners’ perspectives on everything that we do. As EQAO seeks to continuously improve its programs, we want to ensure that students’ voices are informing our thinking.

EQAO celebrates student diversity across the province, and our approach to open dialogue welcomes all viewpoints. When selecting committee members, we’ll ensure a diverse representation of students’ experiences and perspectives. We’ll also look for students who demonstrate a passion for effecting change in their communities and who have a desire to make a difference—either through their actions or through their ideas.

Please find attached an invitation to students, which outlines eligibility criteria, and the application form for this opportunity. Submissions must be received by May 31, 2018 and selections will be announced on June 20, 2018.

We appreciate any support you can provide in sharing this opportunity with students, and thank you for your commitment to the children and youth of Ontario.

Doors Open Ottawa

(DOO), a free city-wide annual event organized by the City of Ottawa, celebrates our community’s built heritage. During the first full weekend in June (June 2 & 3/18), over 150 of the city’s historically, culturally, and functionally significant buildings will open their doors for the public’s viewing pleasure.

While each building is encouraged to recruit their own volunteers, the City of Ottawa assists with volunteer recruitment to support participating buildings during the event weekend. Historically the City has supported an average of 35 to 50 buildings in their quest for volunteers to assist their building/site totalling anywhere from 190 to 410 volunteer shifts per weekend.

Tennis Club

We are looking for a volunteer gardener for our Tennis Club at Britannia Park for the summer, and possibly into the fall. Duties would include weeding (garden, lawn and around the tennis courts), watering and planting flowers, light outdoor work and overall management and presentation of our small flower garden.
This is a great opportunity for students requiring volunteer hours, or for those of you who just love to garden!
