Distance vs. Intensity (report)
Questions:
How did the dB SPL change with distance if at all? What is the expected change in intensity? What noise sources were present, if any, that may have skewed your results? Where was the speaker placed in the room? Specifically what distance was the speaker from the walls, floor and ceiling? What direction was the speaker facing? Other than distance, where was the SPL Meter relative to the speaker? Who did you work with? What did each person in the group do during the experiment?
Report:
Answer the above questions as complete thoughts in formal English. In addition to the above, your report should always include these elements:
• Procedure: what you did and how you did it. Be precise, be clear, make sure anyone grading this who did not write the assignment would understand each step you took to set up and execute the experiment. Photos will help clarify here too.
• Data Records: capture the data in a chart and/or table for effective display and analysis. If needed take more measurements to fill in gaps in data.
• Discussion: Analyze your findings, do they relate to your expectation?, do they ask more question?s, if those questions could be answered by further experimentation?, do so, and then discuss these additional results.
• Conclusion: Briefly relate your findings to your other interest in music technology. Don’t forget the forest while describing a tree.
