Science Career Ladder Explainer Trainee Application

The Science Career Ladder is the signature program of the New York Hall of Science (NYSCI), a youth development and employment experience for young people age 14-25. Explainers, serve as paid floor staff, interpreting exhibits, facilitating design activities, and bringing the excitement of science and engineering to the public. The program is also responsible for the career development of the Explainers, especially in STEM—science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.


• at least a year commitment
• enrolled in a HS or College/University in NYC
• at least 14 years of age
• if under 18, must have working papers
• photo ID
• Social Security Card

High School Students:
• availability to work one weekend shift
• availability to work holiday and/or schools out day
• actively participate in Career Development/Networking opportunities

College Students:
• availability to work two weekday shift
• availability to work at least one holiday
• actively participate in Career Development/Networking opportunities
