NBBrightSparks WOW Form

Our "Walk Once A Week" (WOW) scheme is designed to help lessen the impact of the "school run" on the environment. The idea was first thought up by Mercury Class in Summer 2009 as part of our SOS environment week. A practical scheme was then originally developed by the Nature Club in Autumn 2009 and launched on February 1st 2010. Since then, the scheme has been revised and was re-launched to the whole school at the start of November 2015 as part of the whole school assembly by the environment and Healthy Schools TED Teams, with road safety input from our crossing patrol man and Community Governor, Mr Dave Wilson.

The scheme is very simple:

At the beginning of each half term, children are encouraged to walk to or from school at least once a week and, with the help of an adult, record this using the electronic form (below). Each time they have walked, they will earn a Foot Token. At the end of each half term, the class with the greatest number of Foot Tokens wins the Golden Boot trophy and an extra reward. Every child who has walked once a week, each week in a half term will also receive a special badge which is presented at our celebration assembly at the start of the following term.
