The Nomination Committee is responsible for qualifying all potential candidates who want to run for a position and to nominate a slate of candidates (one for each position). You or someone else may have nominated you for consideration to be slated as a candidate by the Committee. That nomination is not a formal nomination for the office that you are seeking. Formal nominations are made by the Nomination Committee in the form of a slate of candidates, and by motion made on the floor of the annual meeting.
The Committee will nominate only one candidate for each position whose term is expiring. The terms for all positions are expiring. If the Committee finds that you qualify to run for a position but does not nominate you on its slate of candidates, then your name will be added to the official ballot and the Committee will advise the membership that you are qualified to run. However, pursuant to NGBSA By-laws, you will have to be nominated (and seconded) from the floor of the annual meeting if you are not on the slate of Committee Nominations. Nominations from the floor are allowed provided proper notice has been given pursuant to the By-Laws. All individuals who have notified the Committee of an interest in a Board position are presumed to have met this notice requirement. If you are not nominated from the floor of the meeting then any votes cast for you will be void, even if your name is on the ballot.
