RULES FOR 7v7 SOCCER FESTIVALS – Tournaments

Rule 1 – Field of Play – UCLA Fields

Rule 2 – Players and Substitutions
All players must appear on the team roster in order to participate in sanctioned games. Substitutions can be made “on the fly”. The player being replaced must leave the field before the substitute enters. A player may exit the field only at the halfway line, and entry must occur at the halfway line. Any blatant disregard of this rule that results in an odd man advantage or preventing a breakaway will be treated as unsporting behavior.

Rule 3 – Player Equipment
All players of the team must have matching uniform.

Rule 4 – Duration of Game and Length of Period
A game shall consist of (2) 12 minute halves. There shall be a 2 minute break between halves. Games remaining in a tie at the end of group play will remain so.  If a game is tied at the end of a knock out match, the teams shall proceed to penalty kicks. 3 shooters per side.

Rule 5 – Offside – There is no offside in 7v7  format

Rule 6 – Fouls and Misconduct
Slide tacking will not be allowed. A player may never make contact with the ball when on the ground, even if there is no one around the play. Fighting will not be permitted. Players involved are subject to dismissal from the tournament. A yellow card is a two minute penalty where the team plays down a man for two minutes or until a goal is scored. A second yellow will result in an automatic ejection and the team is to play down a player for 4 minutes.

Rule 7– Free Kicks – Opposing players shall be at least 5 yards from the ball until the kick is taken. All kicks are indirect. Ball is returned to play by kick in.

Rule 8 – Penalty Kicks
