GeoGirls Teacher Recommendation Form 2018
GeoGirls is a geology and technology field camp for middle school girls to explore the volcanoes in their backyard, the hazards they pose and the technology scientists use to monitor them. During the course of the overnight field-based camp, girls will tour Mount St. Helens, visit researchers in action, conduct a focused research project with real scientists, visit the USGS Cascades Volcano Observatory and conduct a volcanic crisis mission that builds on concepts learned throughout the week. Twenty-five girls graduating from 7th and 8th grades will be selected for the 2018 program. Overnight stays will be at a remote field camp (without running water and electricity) and at the Mount St. Helens Science and Learning Center.

2015, 2016, and 2017 GeoGirls came from all over Washington and Oregon and from a variety of social and economic backgrounds.
