Biology Casual Teaching Applications - S2 2019

To be eligible to apply for casual teaching you must:
1. Be a HDR student (any stage) or 2nd year MRES. For any exceptions (i.e. outside of MQUni) please contact the unit convenor directly.
2.     Have spoken to your supervisor and received approval from them to work as a casual tutor
3. Apply by 11:55pm Sunday 28th May, 2017
4. Have completed/registered lab induction within the last 18 months. Or if you haven't then you must attend the Inductions scheduled for Session 1:

5. You must submit a one page CV (PDF format saved as "Name_CV.pdf"), outlining any relevant teaching experience and qualifications to the CV submission link on either the BIOL899/990 iLearn websites (login using your student ID to https://ilearn.mq.edu.au/login/MQ/) or the template sent via email. (UNLESS YOU WERE A TUTOR FOR BIOLOGY IN SESSION 2 2017 - YOU DO NOT NEED TO DO THIS JUST FILL IN THIS FORM)
6. ***NEW**** requirements under the universities reviewed "Casual Academic Recruitment" policy you must now also
            a. supply at least one reference including contact.
            b. Provide evidence of your right to work in Australia
                     i. Australian citizens – a copy your passport or birth certificate
                    ii. Non-Australian citizens – a copy of your passport and relevant visa
These documents must also be saved in PDF format as "Name_AustProof.pdf" and also uploaded to the CV submission link on either the BIOL899/990 iLearn websites (login using your student ID to https://ilearn.mq.edu.au/login/MQ/) (UNLESS YOU WERE A TUTOR FOR BIOLOGY IN SESSION 1 2017 - YOU DO NOT NEED TO DO THIS JUST FILL IN THIS FORM - HOWEVER IF YOU HAVE CHANGED OR RENEWED YOUR VISA PLEASE SEND A COPY OF THIS THROUGH)

We expect our tutors to:
Attend all tutor meetings
Arrive promptly and be fully prepared for each and every class
Be enthusiastic, engaging and provide relevant written feedback on all student assignments
   ***** Please note that it is not acceptable to just sit at the back or chat with colleagues during pracs****
Be available for all classes you have been employed to teach, or if you have a scheduling conflict then it is YOUR responsibility to find a substitute tutor and they MUST be from within the units tutor pool, you also must give plenty of advanced notice to the convenor / super-tutor
Answer student enquiries via email and iLearn discussion posts
Attend departmental seminars & meetings to develop your understanding of Biology and our department
