SGA Chief Diversity Officer Application
Hello, and thank you for your interest in joining the Student Government Association as the Chief Diversity Officer for the 2017-2018 administration. This position was made to be a cabinet level position by President Blake Humphrey, and will be involved in many aspects of the decision-making process for the SGA administration.

The following is a job description for the position;



a) Develop campus-wide programs that promote diversity to students and educate students

on its importance;

b) Facilitate a diverse community/atmosphere throughout the student body;

c) Work in cooperation with all other organizations on campus that promote related

ideas of diversity;

d) Perform all other related duties as shall be determined by the President and Vice


*This will include being the Chairman of the President's Council on Diversity, Equity and Inclusion and helping to coordinate the monthly meeting of said council.

How many hours are you able to commit to this position?
As Chief Diversity Officer, your role will be to elevate the voices of marginalized students, utilize your connections within Student Government Association to facilitate a safe and open environment for marginalized students, and advise the President and Vice President on diversity-related issues. This role will require you to be both proactive and reactive, and may include but is by no means limited to: working with existing University diversity initiatives, working with student organizations dedicated to marginalized students, responding to individual diversity-related issues as brought to your attention by students or staff, and keeping up to date on the latest human rights and diversity-related issues in order to understand the environment in which you’ll operate. As Chief Diversity Officer, you would serve as a liaison between marginalized students and Student Government Association. Do you feel comfortable advocating for all students, including trans students, students of color, non-traditional students, students with disabilities, undocumented students, and students of all religions?
As Chief Diversity Officer, it is important that you ask about and listen to the needs of marginalized students rather than independently perceiving what they may or may not require. How will you ensure that you are actively seeking out the opinions, ideas, and needs of marginalized students?
