Meriwether Godsey Earth Week Poster Contest - 2013

For years, Meriwether Godsey (MG) has promoted Earth Day through a week of events drawing special attention to foods that are seasonal, local, sustainable, and food service practices that reduce our carbon footprint (less use of fossil fuels, less waste, etc.).  In so doing, MG has designed and distributed to all of its accounts, and its online community, posters, signs, press releases calling attention to this special event.

This year, MG invites Guilford College current students to participate in an Earth Day poster design contest.  

First place will receive a $250 gift certificate to Best Buy and have their poster used at all MG accounts.

Second Place will receive $50 in gift certificates to The Grill and The Q.

Meriwether Godsey Earth Week Poster Contest - 2013

For some time, Meriwether Godsey (MG) has promoted Earth Day through a week of events drawing special attention to foods that are seasonal, local, sustainable, and food service practices that reduce our carbon footprint (less use of fossil fuels, less waste, etc.).  In so doing, MG has designed and distributed to all of its accounts, and its online community, posters, signs, press releases calling attention to this special event.

This year, MG invites Guilford College current students to participate in an Earth Day poster design contest.  MG will award prizes to first and second place.

Contest Rules:

  1. Eligibility:  any currently enrolled Guilford College student, over the age of 18, is eligible.

  1. About the contest/how to enter:
  1. entrants create and submit an original poster for MG’s Earth Week 2013
  2. submissions must be electronic and emailed to earthweek@merig.com
  3. Image files over 4 MB should be transmitted using an online server [dropbox, yousendit,google drive, etc.] with download link provided by email to the address above. Each poster must be given a unique file title.
  4. by submitting artwork, entrants release all rights to the artwork to MG
  5. any submissions may be used by MG in any way associated with its marketing and pr efforts, including advertising and promotional activities; and MG may alter the artwork for its marketing purposes

  1. Content instructions for poster submissions:

Each poster that is entered into the contest must meet the following “Poster Requirements”.

  1. Required file formats include:
  1. The poster design must be 11 inches x 17 inches.  
  2. The poster must prominently display Earth Week 2013 and the dates April 22 - 26.
  3. A minimum of 20 square inches must be set aside inposters for placement of sponsor logos.  Logos will be added at later stage with winning entries.
  4. The poster must show Earth Week in a positive manner;
  5. The poster must be “generic” in its identity, meaning not branded specific to Guilford College as the poster will be used in many locations in the mid-Atlantic.
  6. The poster should be original, creative, innovative, and unique
  7. Entrants are encouraged but not required to include a tagline that ties the theme of the poster to Earth Day / Week and to food. Taglines will become the property of MG.  
  8. The poster must be the submitting Entrant’s original, previously unpublished work and not contain any third party copyrighted material (including images and wording) unless the Entrant has written permission to use such copyrighted material.
  9. Upon request, the Entrant should be able to provide all appropriate clearances, permissions and releases for the poster Committee’s benefit.
  10. MG may post entries through social media channels and invite comments or unofficial voting.  Any voting mechanisms used will be non-binding on MG’s ultimate selection of the contest winner.
  11. All requested information on the entry form, in addition to a valid submission, must be completed to enter and to be eligible to win.  Proof of submission is not considered proof of delivery or receipt of entry.  
  12. MG is not responsible for late, lost or misdirected entries. All entries become the property of MG. All entries must be uploaded by 3 pm (EST) Thursday, March 21 2013.  Under no circumstances will late entries be considered.

  1. Contest Timeline:
  1. Entrants must upload their poster by 3pm (EST) Thursday, 21 March, 2013.
  2. MG will pick the winner by April , by March 27, 2013.
  3. MG may, but is not required to, invite Guilford Dining and MG facebook followers to vote for their favorite poster between March 22nd and March 26th on facebook: www.facebook.com/guilforddining; and www.facebook.com/meriwethergodsey
  4. Winner (s) will be notified by March 28, 2013.

  1. Prize:  
  1. The first place winner will receive a $250 gift certificate to Best Buy.  The second place winner will receive $50 gift certificate to Best Buy  In addition, the winning poster (as added to by MG in its sole discretion to provide MG branding and other information)  will be printed for distribution to all MG locations; and will be used in other marketing materials and for PR as desired by MG, in print, digitally, and on-line.  
  2. MG may award additional prizes as the Committee sees fit and in the Committee’s sole and absolute discretion.
  3. All prizes are non-transferable and no substitution or cost equivalent is allowed. Prizes do not include applicable taxes, nor do they include any other item not specifically named in this document. Such items are the responsibility of the winner.  Gift card prizes are not exchangeable for cash.  Prizes will be mailed or hand-delivered to the winning entrant.

  1. Selection Committee:
  1. The Selection Committee will be made up of individuals appointed by MG in its sole discretion.

  1. General Conditions:
  1. By accepting prize the winner(s) consents that MG becomes sole owner of all the right, title and interest in the submitted poster, including the copyright in the poster, with rights to use or alter as they see fit.
  2. By entering this contest, the winner(s) consents to the use of his/her name and/or likenesses for promotional purposes without further compensation, except where prohibited by law. The entry form constitutes a liability/publicity release.

  1. Agreement to be Bound by Rules & Regulations:

By participating in the 2013 Poster Contest, entrants accept and agree to be bound by these Rules & Regulations and by the decisions of the judges, which shall be final and legally binding.  Winner(s) will be contacted by telephone and/or email immediately following the judging. If a winner cannot be contacted within 48 hours, or if that winner declines prize, an alternate winner will be chosen that is considered the next best entry. Released Parties are not responsible for inability to contact winner(s) due to spam filters, email issues, and phone ID blocking, caller ID and / or any other call blocking devices that may be in place with potential winner’s telephone service.
