DLNR / Forestry <-> Must be able to work long hours including overnight camps. Must be able to work in harsh environments, able to carry 25 lbs. while hiking for long periods of time, must not be afraid of heights.
DLNR / Na Ala Hele Trails <-> Must be able to hike 3-7 miles daily carrying 25 lbs. of equipment. Must be able to work in harsh environments and enjoy working outdoors.
DLNR / Natural Area Reserves <-> Must be able to work long hours including overnight camps. Must be able to work in harsh environments, able to carry 25 lbs. while hiking for long periods of time, must not be afraid of heights.
Maui Nui Botanical Gardens <-> General Plant/gardening knowledge, must be able to use excel spreadsheets to monitor data. Must be willing to do presentations on native plants.
Maui Invasive Species Committee <-> Must be willing to work evenings. Must be able to work in harsh environments for long periods of time. Must have reliable transportation. One position available in Hana.
The Maui Farms <-> Members will gain general plant, animal husbandry skills. Members must do presentations and group activities.
La'akea Farms <-> Work 3 scheduled days a week. Must be able to work well with people who have intellectual and developmental disabilities, some of whom visit and live at the farm. Members will learn different aspects of farming native plants.
We will investigate for past sexual offenses and violent crimes, or crimes that would have a direct bearing on your service.
This background check will entail our search of the National Sex Offenders Registry and an FBI criminal history check, which will require you being fingerprinted at Pre-Service Orientations.
You will not be permitted to serve or work with children, individuals with disabilities, or individuals over 60 yours of age, without supervision until the history check is complete and you are cleared. The review process is not lengthy, and normally is completed within weeks.
