As a member of the 2016-2017 McIntosh High School Marching Band, I agree to adhere to all of the policies and procedures of the Fayette County Board of Education and the McIntosh High School Band Program. I understand that for the success of the band, a violation of any of these policies could result in a position change, removal from a performance, removal from a portion of the show, suspension from the program, or removal from the MHS Marching Band.
Music and Choreography will be performed for and evaluated by the Director’s throughout the season and deemed pass or no pass. Students who fall into the no pass category will have the opportunity to receive extra help to bring their performance into the pass standing. Students who do not reach an acceptable level of performance may be sidelined by the Director’s each week. All fees are non-refundable after June 1, 2015. The band fee is currently set at 775.00 dollars per member based on a minimum membership of 85 students. Our expectation is to have over 100 members as we have had in the past which will ensure the fee does not go any higher than 775.00. All fees are due on or before the due date. Parents are encouraged to fundraise but may have to write a check, money order for fees in advance and get reimbursement once fundraising monies are in their student account. Any parents with financial concerns or in need of special payment arrangements should email Ms. Baker. Payment Schedule-Due with contract 75.00: July 1, 250.00 August 1, 250.00 September 1,200.00. Grades: Parents contact Director’s immediately if student grades are an issue in any subject. We will work with you to coordinate tutor sessions and extra teacher help sessions to insure that the grade is corrected immediately. Please do not use this activity as a punishment for a student’s misbehavior or grades outside of band. If you remove your child then the entire band has to change all of the music and choreography that they learned with your child. It is not fair to the other members to make them do this. It puts the organization at a disadvantage for competitive season. It is impossible for this team to succeed if parents remove students throughout the season due to grades.
Member and Parent Unity “If you can’t say anything nice”…Grandmothers all over the world... Uniformity in member appearance such as unnatural hair color, facial jewelry, visible tattoos, hair past the collar, beards, mustaches etc…are not permissible if deemed distracting. Students and Parents should not complain….be negative etc… to anyone who cannot fix the problem. Please bring any issue, concern or problem to a Director immediately so that we can begin immediately working towards a resolution. Parents should never try to resolve a problem through a staff member. Staff members are employees of the Directors and are completing a specific job for the Directors. Any concerns that you have regarding policies or student issues should be brought to a Director not a staff member. I understand there is one person per drill position. I have read, understand and agree to the policies of the Fayette County School Board and McIntosh High School Band. Please list below which of these areas you will be willing to work.

Band Member respond here indicating that you agree to comply with all of the marching band expectations and to follow the band calendar online at mcintoshbands.com. The band calendar will be completed and online by June 1, for parents and students to see. You understand that attendance is mandatory and that absences must be submitted in writing well in advance of the missed date. You understand that you should not schedule other events on top of a previously scheduled band obligation. If you are a member of another team you should work out in advance with Ms. Baker and Ms. Amosu your shared attendance between the two activities. You understand that if you do not pass of your music or work during a performance week that you may be removed from all or a portion of the show for that week.

As a parent you understand that your child is expected to attend all scheduled practices and performances. Other events should not be scheduled on top of anything that was scheduled for marching band prior to the start of it's season. You understand that parents are needed to volunteer with the marching band in various areas in order for the students to have a successful season. You understand that there is a participation fee divided into payments or that you may pay in full at anytime prior to September 1. You understand that many fundraising options will be made available to you and your student. The McIntosh Marching Band is a non-profit organization and money paid out of pocket for fees (not fundraised) is tax deductible. No student will be kept from participating due to a financial need or hardship. We do ask that families who need our assistance with payments tell us in advance so that we can find a solution to support our students.
