Kimball Art Center 2017 Internship Application
Kimball Art Center inspires and connects through art. Our summer internship program highlights the many professions in the art world and inspires young people to not only see the importance of art, but possibly choose a career in the arts. Whether you are interested in education, marketing, exhibitions, volunteer and artist management or development, we offer a range of internship opportunities for students or postgraduates who are looking to further their career.

Requirements for all interns:

- 18 years or older
- Interest in the visual arts and/or nonprofit management
- Proficient in Microsoft Office
- Excellent organizational, communication and customer service skills
- Offers of an internship are contingent upon the successful completion of a background check

In order to apply for this program, you must be available to work full-time for the dates below:

- Kimball Art Center Gala: Thursday, July 13
- Some interns may be asked to work full-time the week of July 31.
- Park City Kimball Arts Festival: August 4, 5 & 6*

*Interns are required to work extended hours during the above events.

Summer internships are unpaid and require a minimum of 20 hours per week. A set schedule will be determined during orientation in consultation with your intern manager. Hours will steadily increase as we approach Arts Festival. Applicants are permitted to apply for up to three positions by ranking them in order of preference below.

Education Intern
Education Interns will have the opportunity to work with the Education Department Manager, Artistic Director, Education & Exhibitions Coordinator, A.R.T.S. Tour Coordinator, and Ceramics Studio Manager, learning how we all work together to serve the community in arts education and programming. There will be hands on opportunities to work with kids, teens, and adults in an art studio setting. Interns will also learn about our education outreach programs (A.R.T.S., EVA, and YAA). Interns will learn valuable communication skills during the internship, as the Education Department works closely with the Exhibitions Department, Development Department, Marketing Department, and Events Department in order to successfully run our programs. Interns will learn how to work collaboratively and efficiently with others as we prepare for our 48th Annual Park City Arts Festival. The internship will require 20 hours per week (can be flexible with your schedule). From July 21 – August 6 intern(s) are required to work 40 hours per week. The Summer Semester is our busiest season, and our interns need to be flexible, reliable, capable, able to lift up to 50 lbs and willing to help our department when support is needed. The end date for this internship is August 25, 2017 (can be flexible).
Exhibitions Intern
The Exhibitions intern will assist with all aspects of exhibition research, organization and installation, including the development of timelines, checklists and didactics; correspondence with artists and galleries; exhibition design and installation; event support; and other tasks as assigned. During the course of the internship, the intern will gain knowledge and experience related to curatorial practice and exhibition management. The intern best suited for this department will have a working knowledge of art history, experience with art handling, excellent written and oral communication skills and excellent organizational skills. Exhibition interns must also be able to lift up to 50 pounds and be able to climb ladders. Interns will learn how to work collaboratively and efficiently with others as we prepare for our 48th Annual Park City Arts Festival. The end date for this internship is August 18, 2017.
Volunteer & Artist Intern
The Volunteer & Artist intern will provide administrative and organizational support for the Kimball Art Center’s Volunteer Coordinator and Artist Manager. Intern will assist with all aspects of volunteer management including the planning and implementation of volunteer events and communications around the 48th Annual Park City Kimball Arts Festival. Intern will also assist with updating the Arts Festival website (training provided), organizing data and materials and other tasks impacting artists. On occasion, intern may be asked to help with other marketing projects.

During the course of the internship, interns will gain knowledge and experience related to the Kimball’s mission, volunteer management, artist management and event planning. Interns will learn how to work collaboratively and efficiently with others as we prepare for our 48th Annual Park City Arts Festival. Interns must be available to work full-time the week of July 31. Volunteer & Artist intern must be reliable, detail-oriented, have good communication skills and be willing to help where needed. The end date for this internship in August 8, 2017.

Creative Intern
The Creative intern will work closely with the Marketing Manager to support the Kimball Art Center’s branding and design needs. The Kimball brand is the face of our organization. It’s what people see and it influences what people think and feel. The purpose of our brand is to help fulfill the Kimball’s goals. This person should have design skills (proficient in Adobe Creative Suite), interest in social media and a photography background is preferred but not required.

This internship is a great opportunity to work one-on-one with a creative mentor to learn the ins and outs of the creative process from conception to execution. The ideal candidate for this position is passionate for art direction and design, has an openness to learn, honors timelines and collaborates well with others. The end date for this internship is August 8, 2017.

Development & Membership Intern
The Development & Membership intern will provide administrative and database support for the Kimball Art Center’s Development Department. Without development, the Kimball would not be able to provide the wonderful programs, exhibitions or events to our community. This internship is a great opportunity to gain knowledge and experience in the behind the scenes activities that allow nonprofits to run. Intern tasks will include assisting the Development & Membership Coordinator with sponsor, member, and donor relations and fulfillment, thorough database maintenance and assisting with the management of Arts Festival food vendors. In addition, the Development & Membership intern will learn about large event production management and implementation and how to work collaboratively and efficiently with others as we prepare for our 48th Annual Park City Arts Festival. The ideal candidate for this position will be analytical, meticulous to detail, personable and organized. Previous data entry experience is a plus. The end date for this internship is August 18, 2017.
