WHAT IS MASUNGI GEORESERVE?
● Masungi Georeserve is a rustic rock garden and conservation area in the rainforests
of Baras, Rizal around 1.5 hours from Metro Manila. Its primary aim is to conserve
60-million-year-old limestone or karst formations and some 350 flora and fauna
through geotourism and the UNESCO Geopark model.

● After twenty years of forest restoration and protection efforts, the georeserve opened
its doors to a limited number of socially responsible guests in December 2015. The
first experience offered was the three to four-hour Discovery Trail experience.

● Masungi Georeserve is developed by Blue Star Construction & Development
Corporation and managed by Masungi Georeserve Foundation by virtue of a Joint
Venture Agreement with DENR, as well as a stewardship agreement.
UNESCO GEOPARK MODEL

● UNESCO Geoparks are a single, unified, geographical areas where sites and
landscapes of international significance are managed with a holistic concept of
education, protection, and sustainable development.

● The model emphasizes low-impact tourism with high value, and focuses less on the
volume of visitors to a destination.

Discovery Trail
Discovery Trail Visit (Featuring Sapot, Duyan, Bayawak, Sawa, Nanay and Tatay Rock Formations)
● The Discovery Trail allows private groups of a minimum of seven guests to go
through the conservation area, and come up close with the karst terrain. The trek
lasts for 3-4 hours in total for a beginner. A park ranger will be guiding guests
through the trek providing a deeper understanding of the area.

● The Discovery Trail is also host to a variety of low-impact man-made improvements
that enhance the guests’ interaction with nature and provide access to different
points of interest. There are more than 10 main stops along the Discovery Trail, with
the most popular being the Sapot (Spiderweb), Duyan (Hammock), Patak
(Teardrop-shaped Airhouse) and Bayawak (Monitor Lizard).
