Zipping and Unzipping Files On Your PC File Management


Introduction

Zipping a file creates a compressed version of the file that is considerably smaller than the original file. The zipped version of the file has a .zip file extension.

This guide will help you to understand:

How to Zip a File/Folder

  1. Right click a file or folder.

  1. Click Send to.
  2. Select Compressed (Zipped) Folder.

  1. The .zip file will show up in the same location as the file or folder you are zipping.

How to Unzip a Zipped Folder

  1. Right click the .zip file
  2. Click Extract All from the shortcut menu.

  1. A pop-up window will appear asking where you want the unzipped file to go.
  1. Select Browse.
  2. Choose any location on your computer.

  1. Click Extract.
