All Sessions are at IMESD Pendleton

All tools shared are device neutral - meaning, they are usable by students on the iPad, Chromebook, or traditional computer lab scenarios.  Depending on comfort level of participant, a laptop or chromebook will be the most useful for the teacher creation parts of the sites we will be using.  

Please bring along or have access online to curriculum materials that you will be using next year if possible.  We want to be sure that your time is spent creating material that will be of use to you in the fall!  
June 23rd AM Session:  Google Classroom
Learn about google classroom and all the new features that have developed this year.  Look at classroom strategies to create a blended classroom and increase collaboration and communication with your students.  No more chasing down extra worksheets or emailing homework assignments to sick students!

June 23rd PM Session:  Google Apps for Education  
Spend the afternoon looking at each of the core pieces of the google app for ed account.  Sheets, Slides, Forms, and Docs… what tools and features are available in each and how can they be utilized along with Google Classroom. For those that are ready - an introduction to a few of the most popular google add ons.   This session is powerful for those just starting using google.

June 30th AM Session:  Edcite - Create Online Performance Tasks and SBAC Question Type Assessments  
Need more SBAC tech skills practice for your students?  Create online assessments that model the SBAC skills but at the same time align with your current curriculum.   Bring along your curriculum, especially formative assessments and performance tasks and lets put them online!  Build up your library so they are ready to use with students in the fall.

Explore numerous tools, look through libraries, set up accounts, and spend time creating your own activities so you are comfortable and ready for the new school year!

July 7th AM Session:  Actively Engage Students in Reading with ActivelyLearn
Come explore this new tool that allows teachers to create reading assignments with all the built in tools to annotate, answer embedded questions, and many more.  Use this across all content areas by using free ELA, Science, and Social Studies texts from the company or upload your own materials from PDF or internet resources.  We will look at the already aligned library of assignments as well as how to personalize and create our own assignments to use with your students next fall.  This session we will examine what is available in the free version, and expose you to possibilities of the premium version if your district will support you.

July 7th PM Session:  Make Old Paper Assessments Interactive with GoFormative
Do you want one tool that allows you to send out quick clicker questions,  drawing responses,  or will let you take your PDF and make it interactive?  Formative is a tool that allows teachers to collect data from student devices in numerous different ways.  This is powerful for iPads, Chromebooks, or any internet accessible device!  Are you a one to one classroom or have a center of devices?  Want a fun way to utilize those smart phones sitting in your students’ pockets?  This is a tool to check out.   Get real time responses from your students as they work.  We will spend time exploring the instant response uses as well as creating your own assessments that you will have in your library ready to use with students.

July 14th AM Session: Broadcast your Lesson to all Student Devices
When facilitating a lesson in your classroom these tools will allow you to broadcast your lesson on each device, along with projecting it up front.  Students in the back can read it.  You can incorporate response questions within the lesson creating an environment where all students are engaged and held accountable.  Join us as we explore these tools, using and creating lessons for your classroom.

July 14th PM Session: iPads for Primary - Learning to Read
What iPad resources are available to primary teachers that help teach children how to read? During this session we will explore several apps and strategies that support the reading curriculum, along with apps in other content areas that don’t require reading to learn.

July 21st AM Session:  Integrating Video - Tools to Clip, Save, Share, and Enhance Video Use in Your Curriculum.
We explore a variety of tools which take videos from a whole class watching activity to individual and even personalized watching experience.  Strategies on how to share videos, capture videos, and clean up the viewing experience for the students will be explored.  Find a few video clips that align with your standards and come join us for the afternoon!

July 21st PM Session: Having Students keep ePortfolios
Do you want to have students keep track of their progress throughout the year, rather than you manage that portfolio for them?  Join us as we explore apps and strategies allowing students to maintain their own ePortfolios, and protocols you would follow to share students work with each other, the community, or the public.  Tools exist for any age student, whether they are kindergarten or secondary.
