Join others to network and learn new strategies to ensure compliance with ERSEA regulations in regard to the New Performance Standards. Discuss with your peers best practice for implementing a program that truly meets the needs of your community. Major highlight for this meeting includes chronic absenteeism as it relates to the proposed Head Start standards (NPRM) which will require Head Start programs to focus not only on overall program attendance but also on identifying and intervening with individual children who have low attendance. This is a growing major problem because chronic absenteeism is disproportionately affecting minorities, students with disabilities, and studen ts from low income families, it's a matter of equity. A missed day of school is a missed opportunity for learning, and the implications are massive.Other topics include: coordination, planning, implementation and monitoring the ERSEA functions for your program. This ERSEA network is designed to help staff learn which key rule, regulation, directive or practice is applicable. Discover with your colleagues how best to monitor, and evaluate the overall ERSEA process and systems.
