Study visits on 18 May
Two different study visits will take place in parallel on Thursday, 18 May 2017. If you would like to attend, please tick the box above corresponding to which visit you would like to take part in:
1. Cureghem Neighborhood: Abattoir and Recyk
The development of Cureghem is strongly linked to the construction of the canal and slaughterhouses in the nineteenth century, as well as to the presence of the Brussels-Midi railway station. The tour will allow participants to discover this changing neighborhood through two projects: Abattoir (site redevelopment with urban farming), and RecyK (social economy center and waste recycling/recovery)
2. Tours and Taxis neighbourhood: Greenbizz/Tivoli Green City and Port of Brussels
Located near the Canal, Tours and Taxis is a former railway site is one of the last major land reserves in central Brussels, and is currently undergoing conversion into a mixed-use sustainable neighbourhood. This tour will also visit Greenbizz (a SME incubator focussed on sustainable economy) and Tivoli Green City (a new neighbourhood of ca. 400 dwellings). Finally, this tour will include a presentation at the Port of Brussels about various projects in the port area.
