accommodations

We use 2 different hotels for this tour.

 

The Radisson Fisherman’s Wharf, your home for nights 1 and 4, is ideally located on beautiful Fisherman’s Wharf, overlooking the breathtaking San Francisco Bay and just steps from several of San Francisco’s best attractions.  You’ll be just a stone’s throw away from Pier 39, Alcatraz Island and Ghirardelli Square.  

The Hyatt Vineyard Creek, your home for nights 2 and 3, is set in the heart of Sonoma Wine country, and has the charm of a Tuscan villa.  It’s a short drive from 200 Sonoma wineries, the coast, the airport and Napa Valley.  

 

activity level

This tour is an easy-paced trip that focuses on enjoying the destination and casually visiting Northern California’s sites and wineries.  This is not an active tour, and you will only be required to walk short distances, carry luggage short distances, and climb short flights of stairs on occasion.  No specific fitness level is required.  

 

meals

Most meals are not included in the tour.  We include lunch on Day 2 at one of the wineries.  It will be picnic-style, with your choice of: sandwich, fruits/veggies, cheese platter, cookie, and water/soda.  Daily breakfast, nightly dinners, and additional meals are not provided by LivingSocial.

 

We can cater to special food requirements, such as vegetarian or allergies, but it’s necessary that you communicate your requests to us in advance by emailing tour.info@livingsocial.com.

  

staff

A local LivingSocial Adventure Guide will be the leader of the group for the whole trip, from start to end. Our guides are fully trained, knowledgeable of the local area, and are there to ensure you have an amazing time.  They can answer any questions you may have, help you book or arrange activities during free time, and assist with anything else you may need.

 

group

This tour is a group tour, and as such there will be up to a maximum of 24 individuals, including you, participating on this tour. Although our travelers are always from varying backgrounds, they tend to have a few things in common, the most important being a spirit for exploration and a sense of adventure.

 

Please do respect the individual differences of everyone in your group, and use the tour as an opportunity to share experiences and bond with like-minded souls.

 

optional activities

As this tour focuses on the wineries of Sonoma, there is limited time for other activities. You will have some time, however, each late afternoon or evening to explore the area at your leisure.

 

spending money

Note that most meals are not included in the tour.  You’ll be responsible for 4 breakfasts, 4 dinners, 3 lunches, as well as personal spending and tips for the guide.

tipping

Tipping staff for a job well done is an appreciated gesture anywhere in the world.  Upon completion of your San Francisco-Sonoma Wine trip, you should plan to tip your guide 10-15% of the package total.  It is roughly $50-$100 per person.

 

weather

November through April brings rain and temperatures in the 50s°F (10°C).  January is San Francisco's wettest - and one of its coolest - months, in the middle of rainy season. Precipitation often comes as a storm, and it's not uncommon to get the entire month's rainfall in just a day or two.

what to bring

Please be prepared by bringing clothing suitable for the conditions.  Some suggested items:

* Waterproof jacket with hood or longer-length rain jacket

* Mid-weight jacket on dry days

* Gloves, hat, scarf

* Hiking shoes

* Most travelers prefer a small rolling suitcase of soft duffle bag

transportation

This tour includes round-trip transportation for the entirety of the tour, but transport does not start until Day 2.  Once you arrive in San Francisco/Oakland on Day 1, you will be responsible for getting yourself to the Radisson Fisherman’s Wharf hotel.  The easiest mode of transportation is by train via the Bay Area Transit System (BART), or by bus via AirBART.

 

*Oakland (OAK) International Airport to Radisson: The convenient AirBART shuttle travels between OAK and the Coliseum/Oakland Airport BART Station every 10 minutes during the day.  It takes 30 minutes or less to reach downtown San Francisco.  You can find the fare from Coliseum/Oakland Airport BART Station to any other station using the BART QuickPlanner.

*San Francisco (SFO) International Airport to Radisson: Trains arrive at the SFO International Terminal every 15 minutes and it's just 30 minutes to downtown San Francisco.  Find fares from the airport to any station by using the QuickPlanner.

 

Your LivingSocial Adventure Guide will be at the hotel on Day 1 to check you in and get you situated in your room.  He/she will also host the evening happy hour & tapas.  Your actual tour will begin the morning of Day 2.
