Eligibility (The NSF S-STEM Scholarship recipient must meet all of the following):
•Be citizen of the United States, nationals of the United States, aliens admitted as refugees, or aliens lawfully admitted to the United States for permanent residence;
•Be enrolled full time in one of the following STEM programs: engineering, chemistry, physics, biology, biotechnology, mathematics, environmental science, astronomy, or another STEM discipline at HCC. (NSF does not classify clinical fields such as veterinary science, forensic science, psychology under STEM)
•Demonstrate academic talent based on a GPA of 2.7 or higher in high school work, or in work at
•HCC (developmental courses will be included in GPA calculations);
•Demonstrate financial need, based on COA minus the EFC.
•Complete this application;
•Complete personal essay;
•Submit a copy of the most recent HCC transcript or the most recent high school transcript (if entering HCC);
•Submit your FAFSA. Go to www.fafsa.gov HCC's school code is 002170;
•Submit two letters of recommendation as attachments to: firstname.lastname@example.org
Letters of recommendation should be from persons qualified to speak about your academic achievements, talent or potential in STEM.
•The deadline to apply is July 20, for consideration Fall 2018 semester.
• Applicants will be notified around August 5th, 2018.
•If scholarship funds are still available, late applications may be considered
SCHOLARS ARE REQUIRED TO BE AVAILABLE FOR THE STEM SEMINAR SCHEDULED ON SEVERAL WEDNESDAYS
FROM 11-12:30. IF YOU ARE SELECTED, YOU MAY NOT SCHEDULE A COURSE DURING THIS TIME.
