This registration form also allows visiting investigators to request staff assistance, facilities and/or equipment in order to make time spent at the Reserve as efficient and productive as possible. In addition, it serves to help catalog the types of research activities, locations of study sites, techniques used and any reports/manuscripts generated at the GTM NERR. Project descriptions will be entered into the NERR Research Database, which is accessible to NERR staff around the country. Visiting investigators not requiring assistance, facilities or equipment must also complete this form to ensure that their research is included in the Reserve’s catalog, to avoid conflicts with another researcher’s activities, to prevent inadvertent damage to a study site due to the Reserve’s management practices (e.g. prescribed fire, hydrologic restoration, exotic plant and animal control) and to provide important safety information. A copy of a funded research proposal can be used to substitute for portions of this form containing redundant information.
Please complete this form at least one month prior to your visit. Your requests will be considered by Reserve staff, and after further discussion of the project particulars and any support requests, the signed form will be sent back to you together with information on facility/personnel support services available during your visit. In the case of unforeseen emergencies, we will notify you of any changes to this arrangement as soon as possible. This form does not substitute for other State or Federal permits that may be required.
Feel free to distribute this form to any of your colleagues interested in conducting research within the area managed by the GTM NERR or its watershed.
