Appropriateness Guidelines
At Grace we define leadership as having influence. Everyone has influence therefore everyone is a leader in different areas. Every leader commits themselves to a set of standards whether they are subconscious or conscious. Team Leaders are a position of increased leadership therefore they have additional commitments. At Grace we seek to follow the following standards:
Foundational Principle
Our lives, not just our words, are our witness to the world of the hope we have in Christ. The lifestyles we choose to live serves as a representation of what we truly believe. Therefore, who we are at church and who we are elsewhere should not contradict each other. The goal of a Christ-follower is not perfection, rather, the goal is in following Christ we allow Him to shape our life. We don’t expect that you never make a mistake concerning the items below. Rather we expect that you are honest and teachable when you do make a mistake. We are a restoring church meaning we work with people who have made mistakes if they are willing to grow. Staff and team members alike will be teachable, submitting to God’s word as the final authority. We exist to create safe communities where imperfect people grow. By seeking to follow the commitments below we will help to establish these communities.

Col. 3:23, 24 – Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for men . . . It is the Lord Christ you are serving.
1 Cor. 8:9 – Be careful, however that the exercise of your freedom does not become a stumbling block to the weak.
2 Cor. 6:3 – We put no stumbling block in anyone’s path, so that our ministry will not be discredited.
1 Timothy 3:1 – if anyone sets his heart on being an overseer, he desires a noble task. the overseer must be above reproach.

Lifestyle
The lifestyle you lead is a reflection of God to those around you. As a Team Leader you are committing to live in such a way that puts your self-interests second to the interests and desires of God. Staff and Leaders will commit to not live together with a significant other outside of marriage. Although it is possible to live together while not engaging in sexual activity; it can confuse those we lead. Rather than confusion, we want our lives to serve as a reflection of our submission to God and lead others to do the same.

Social Media
Staff and Leaders will make sure that all public social media venues (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, blogs, etc) reflect living according to the calling that Christ has on a Christian’s life. Staff and Team Members will not seek to divide the body of Christ through argumentative use of social media but will save those conversations to be expressed in person. Political bullying or overtly narcissistic behavior on social media will lead to conversations with Staff or other Team Members.
