As they did in 1963, the words of Dr. King ring particularly true today. Amidst increasing animosity in our nation, Georgetown University seeks to deepen partnerships with the Washington, DC community and to honor the legacy of Dr. King through this year’s Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service. We hope that, through this day of action and contemplation as a community, we can reaffirm the relationships that animate our University and uphold our present, urgent responsibility to our neighbors.
This year the MLK Day of Service is Saturday, January 14, 2017. Registration will open at 9:30am. The day will begin with a kick-off at 10:00am--on main campus as well as at the School of Continuing Studies--and conclude with community celebration at 2:00pm, at Cesar Chavez Parkside High School. Breakfast, lunch, and transportation to and from Georgetown’s campuses will be provided.
Please direct any questions or requests for accommodations to Brendan Burke at firstname.lastname@example.org by Thursday, January 5. A good faith effort will be made to fulfill requests made after that date. We hope you can join us.
