10/21/2015 12:20:3014P20I've been actively monitoring my swipes everytime I swipe into a dining hall and last week I had about 132 which made feel comfortable knowing I had enough to swipe in frequently and now it says I have 111. I think it's absolutely irresponsible of the University to mislead so many students like that, because many if not all of us are monitoring our swipes and making sure we're on track.
7
10/21/2015 12:23:5814P25Everyone I know is now significantly under in swipes. It seems we will all be starving by the end of the quarter as a result of appropriately allocating our swipes according to how many we thought we had left, as we had no reason to believe that our swipe counts were wrong.
8
10/21/2015 12:24:3019P25
9
10/21/2015 12:25:1814P15If students had online access to keep track of swipes this error could have been caught and fixed sooner.
10
10/21/2015 12:26:3314P20I may now starve.
11
10/21/2015 12:29:5819P10
12
10/21/2015 12:30:5119P22I really would like to see the data that they used to tally this. I also endorse the idea of being able to check the number of swipes you have online, to allow for better transparency between students and administration. (Maybe with time stamps as well so people can get a better look at how much they use their swipes.)
13
10/21/2015 12:31:3514P13To be honest, the meal plan deduction didn't really affect me. They didn't take away too many swipes so I'm not upset about it. In cases where people used over 20 meal swipes and their plan drastically changed when they in fact knew they hadn't used that many swipes, I definitely would make a complaint to Housing services.
14
10/21/2015 12:35:0414P21The deduction of the 21 meals put me at 90 meals, which is 18 lower than on track. I admit I should be 7 down due to the occasional late night run and swiping a friend in. But 18 swipes? There's no way I could be down an entire week and two days worth of food.
15
10/21/2015 12:35:5519P25
16
10/21/2015 12:40:0314P40I'm disgusted. The internal error is the fault of housing and to add insult to injury their robbing us of more than they promised. I bet Housing won't be quick at putting back our swipes either.
17
10/21/2015 12:41:3814P12
18
10/21/2015 12:41:4614P17Could you imagine Amazon sending you the wrong package and then making you pay for it? Or Walmart undercharging you for something and then calling you back into the store to pay the difference? A restaurant serving you the wrong food and forcing you to eat it? Basically what's going on here.

Absolutely crazy that they think that a themed dining night will fix this mess.

They messed up and are taking none of the burden of their mistake, and by the end of the quarter people will be out of swipes early.
19
10/21/2015 12:43:5214P20
20
10/21/2015 12:44:3914P20Suddenly I will have to not eat/eat only once a day to make up for this? Why do we not have access to seeing our swipes?
21
10/21/2015 12:46:1214P30It's unfair that Housing just took the swipes back, even though the error was theirs. If they had fixed the error in the system before students' meal plans had started, that would be okay. But their approach to this situation (taking back the swipes we thought we had remaining, then offering a themed dinner as a "sorry") is a bit inappropriate.

10/21/2015 12:52:4219P31The explanation written to students on the email does not clearly articulate what happened and why. Speaking for me personally, I am questioning how the system calculated the amount of swipes used following the reset.
26
10/21/2015 12:53:0214P15I'm disgusted that the meals for which I've already paid have been taken away due to a computer glitch. We should not be punished for an internal mistake.

10/21/2015 13:34:1414P20I don't understand how they can just simply take meal swipes away without showing the students evidence of their transactions. They emailed me and said that I had swiped Sunday night for welcome weekend (9/19/15-9/21/15) dinner, but I was not there that weekend. In order for them to ACCURATELY deduct swipes they need to have transaction records, and then to give those records to the students.
44
10/21/2015 13:35:0119P20
45
10/21/2015 13:36:3219P28This is ridiculous. I was ahead of the swipe game by 10 swipes and now I am under how many I should have by 18. I guess I have to keep track of my swipes myself since y'all are incapable of doing so. So disappointed.

47
10/21/2015 13:40:5014P10
48
10/21/2015 13:40:5319P22I manage my swipes based on their reported numbers and rarely go below the predicted number of swipes I should have. However, when I got an email that my carefully calculated limit had suddenly dropped by a months worth of swipes, I was furious. I am on a very tight budget for school. This budget does not allow for buying food off campus and will be my only option to correct for the supposed deduction of my swipes.

I do not want a themed dinner. I want to be able to eat for the remaining quarter.
49
10/21/2015 13:42:4614P20Students plan out their meals based on their system. Now there will be students going hungry because they can't afford additional food outside of the meal plans they paid for.
50
10/21/2015 13:44:0514P10
51
10/21/2015 13:44:1014P29Throughout the beginning of the quarter I was saving some swipes so when I really need them and all of those swipes went to waste because of this error. They need to fix this problem because students don't have the luxury of buying more swipes.
52
10/21/2015 13:44:4514P27It took housing 20 days to figure it out. If it was a day or 2 I could understand them deducting our swipes. But I've been using my swipes according to the number I've been told I have left and it's unfair for them to take away our swipes after nearly a month because they messed up.

10/21/2015 13:52:1014P13
55
10/21/2015 13:52:1014P27It makes no sense for the school to deduct all of those swipes than to re allocate them or just honor them because it was their own mistake in the matter and students who may have been looking at their numbers but never realized they had restarted may have over used swipes thinking they simply had more than expected.

62
10/21/2015 13:57:1819P47Its absolutely ridiculous that an internal error on the university's end becomes a liability for the student. I for one think it borders on illegality that they deducted the swipes from my account. I base my consumption on how many swipes I have left and unbeknown to there is a screw up? The university should own up to its screw up and let the over used swipes ride. I now don't have enough swipes to sustain normal eating habits for the rest of the quarter. If this were a business they'd have no choice but to write off the screw ups and fire the individual responsible.

73
10/21/2015 14:06:0914P20This is complwetely wrong to those that have thought they were on track with meals for weeks. Now we find out that we weren't on track and many of us are behind and won't have enough meals for the quarter! They should compensate for their mistake with swipes--not just some special "themed dinner." What is that even? That's bogus.
74
10/21/2015 14:06:1714P14Why should we take a hit for their mistake in the first place?
75
10/21/2015 14:07:0614P30
76
10/21/2015 14:13:1219P36I am obviously not happy. I have no clue of this, but I thought I was under-provided with swipes during week 0 because I started with about 20~30 swipes lower than I should've and I thought the housing corrected it in the end, which they call it being "reset"ed. In a way, I feel like housing is trying to cover up for their mistake during the beginning and the "reset" is a scam. but either way housing messed up.

10/21/2015 14:20:2514P22There's no way the calculations they did are correct. I have been going to the dining halls only twice a day, meaning I should be right on track, but now I'm 10 swipes under what I should be. Are we getting our money back? Because this is robbery!
