Neighborhood Outreach Team - Help us get the word out!
Help us reach our goal of planting over 800 trees in the Eugene and Springfield area this year! Sign up to be on the Neighborhood Outreach Team to engage the community in the benefits of planting trees! Help by canvassing in Eugene and Springfield neighborhoods or help grow green neighborhoors by calling our "treecipients" to remind them to order their trees for this planting season. You'll learn about the different types of trees available through Friends of Trees, gain insight into locan urban forestry practices, and how to interact with customers in person or over the phone.
Saturday Tree Planters
We organize public tree planting events every Saturday morning from November - April and we always need help planting trees. We provide coffee and breakfast treats to get you fueled up, as well as gloves, tools and trained volunteer guidance. It's a great way to get outside, learn how to plant trees, meet people, fulfill service learning requirements and help make the Eugene/Springfield metro region greener and healthier - all at once!
Truck Drivers
Nearly very Neighborhood planting crew needs truck driver support. Tree are big and heavy and tools add up quickly. Volunteer truck drivers lend their vehicles to a planting event and help us get our trees and tools from house to house on planting day. Whether you want to volunteer at your neighborhood planting event, or you are free to join us over multiple weekends, we'd love to have your help!
Bike Planting Team Members
If you are pumped on biking and want to bring your bike out to a Neighborhood Planting Event - we can work with that! Bicycling crews transport all of the trees, tools and people to each planting site during neighborhood planting events. Folks with bike trailers and racks are encouraged, though anyone with a bike is welcome to plant with us!
Registration Volunteer
At our Saturday planting events we could use some help registering volunteers as they check in to plant! As a registration volunteer you will have volunteers sign in, assign them to a planting or mulch team, and make sure they get their complimentary coffee and sweet treats! This takes place before the planting begins from 8 - 9 am.
Tree Stewardship Opportunities
Help FOT prune, and mulch trees from last year's plantings! Work parties are flexible, contact us for more information!
