Friends of Trees: 2019 Summer Inspector Training Registration
Being a summer inspector gives you a chance to meet your neighbors and help teach them how to best care for their trees during the critical first summer after planting. This role can be done on your own schedule and is a great way to enjoy your neighborhood. Drive, walk, skate, or bike along your route--it's up to you! Whether you take on a route by yourself or do it with a partner or group, it's a great way to do some good under the sun!

Summer inspectors are one of our most popular volunteer roles and a Saturday morning training is required. At this training, you'll receive expert instruction regarding tree care techniques from FOT staff and professional arborists. Our next trainings will take place Saturday, May 4th at Central Bible Church (NE Portland) and Saturday, May 18th at Columbia Springs Classroom (Vancouver, WA). Both trainings will start promptly at 9:00am and finish up around 12:30pm. Folks interested in Vancouver or Portland-area routes are welcome to join at either training!

We estimate that the overall time commitment WITH the 3.5-hr training is approximately 7-10 hours over the course of the summer. This accounts for time to inspect a route of ~20- 25 trees--twice: once by mid-June and again by early August.

If you have any questions or need more information, please contact the Friends of Trees Volunteer & Outreach Program at 503-595-0213.

Thanks in advance for your commitment to the health of these young trees!! We need to take care of them, especially in their early sensitive years, so they can grow to care for us!

Is this tree getting enough water? Are there signs of stress? Learn how to answer these questions and more when you become a Summer Inspector with Friends of Trees!

Are you a homeowner who has received a tree(s) with Friends of Trees during the 2018 - 2019 season? *
Would you be interested in being a "pinch-hitter" Summer Inspector? *
Would you want to potentially take on a second inspection route? For various reasons, we often have more available routes part-way through the summer or in certain neighborhoods. If you sign up as a pinch-hitter, we'll contact you if these situations arise to ask if you're interested in that route. It's not a given that we'll need to contact you, but we appreciate the support if you're willing and able!
