8 | 10/9/2014 8:59:10 | Brandon Budoo | The Death Cure | James Dashner | Yes | This is one of my favorite books. It is the last book of the trilogy, "Maze Runner". It was very fast paced, intense, suspenseful, and the storyline was well thought out. The previous two books were also very good. Thomas is the main subject. He arrives in a maze without any memories from his past. They have to find their way out and up until this point no one has been successful; they never return! After he passes the first two trials, he is onto the last one. A manmade disease called the Flare is introduced to the population, it causes people to go crazy and die. Secondly, it makes the reader think what would they do if they were stranded on a deserted island like the main character was. You might learn ways to stay alive if you were ever in the same senario as the book. Lastly, the book is about how Robie's mood changes over the course of the story. At the beginning she is a moody teenager who doesn't appreciate what she has. By the end of the story she is thankful for her family. her house, and food and water. 12 | 10/16/2014 9:17:44 | Debra Xu | Uglies | Scott Westerfeld | Yes | Uglies by Scott Westerfeld is actually an amazing book. It describes a fictional world where everybody is "equal". In other words, everybody gets surgery to become "pretty" at a certain age. All pretties are the same - this was the solution to end jealousy. Everybody else who hasn't turned pretty yet is labeled at "uglies". Uglies can't wait to turn pretty, they think that life would be perfect once they turn, well they're wrong. Tally - the main character - discovers a place where a bunch of uglies have made a civilization. She finds out that being pretty takes away much more than ugliness.. This book is so carefully detailed and brings you into this fictional world. It makes you think about what you really want. 62 | 10/9/2014 10:18:12 | Sarah Perlman | The Maze Runner | James Dashner | Yes | The story The Maze Runner follows a boy named Thomas who finds himself in a farm area in which the only way to escape is through a maze. Upon his arrival, he realizes he has no memory of his past. It has been erased by the "Creator." Thomas joins about fifty other boys who live in this place. With Thomas's arrival things change and Thomas is determined to get himself and the others out of the maze. I would recommend this story. The Maze Runner deals with an alternate/futuristic society with many obstacles thrown at the characters to overcome. The story was also very intense and had some scary parts that might not sit well with younger readers. One day while at the fence, he meets another nine-year old kid who happens to be Jewish (named Shmuel). The boys become friends, and day after day Bruno goes to the fence to see Shmuel. I could not stop reading it; everything about the book was interesting and it was about the Holocaust. To me, it was like a movie playing in my head. All of the details in the book were so vivid and clear I could picture exactly what was happening. I am really interested in historical fiction books and I would like to read more of them.
