10/9/2014 8:59:10Brandon BudooThe Death CureJames DashnerYesThis is one of my favorite books. It is the last book of the trilogy, "Maze Runner". It was very fast paced, intense, suspenseful, and the storyline was well thought out. The previous two books were also very good. Thomas is the main subject. He arrives in a maze without any memories from his past. They have to find their way out and up until this point no one has been successful; they never return! After he passes the first two trials, he is onto the last one. A manmade disease called the Flare is introduced to the population, it causes people to go crazy and die. The book is about Thomas and his friends going through all of the experiments WICKED has given them, to try to get the cure at the end. You'll have to read the book to see how it all ends.Teen-Fiction8th Grade

10/9/2014 10:17:13Bridget MonaghanThe RaftS.A BodeenYesThe Raft by S.A Bodeen was a very good book. I enjoyed this book for many reasons. First, it was suspenseful. For example, the plane crashes and you don't know if Robie is going to survive or not. Secondly, it makes the reader think what would they do if they were stranded on a deserted island like the main character was. You might learn ways to stay alive if you were ever in the same senario as the book. Lastly, the book is about how Robie's mood changes over the course of the story. At the beginning she is a moody teenager who doesn't appreciate what she has. By the end of the story she is thankful for her family. her house, and food and water. I like this book and would recommend it to classmates.fiction8th Grade

There are some very funny parts and also, some sad ones. The book makes a lot of suggestions on how to help dogs find a forever home. It shows how to "make a dog's day!" If you love dogs and you want a way to help homeless dogs, this is the book for you. fiction8th Grade

The main character was Mia and she talked about her and her family. Then the car crash happened. Mia went to the hospital and was in a coma. After that the book just went downhill she basically only talked about her cello. So if you you like sad books and people talking about there family and cello this is the book for you.fiction6th grade

10/16/2014 9:17:44Debra XuUgliesScott WesterfeldYesUglies by Scott Westerfeld is actually an amazing book. It describes a fictional world where everybody is "equal". In other words, everybody gets surgery to become "pretty" at a certain age. All pretties are the same - this was the solution to end jealousy. Everybody else who hasn't turned pretty yet is labeled at "uglies". Uglies can't wait to turn pretty, they think that life would be perfect once they turn, well they're wrong. Tally - the main character - discovers a place where a bunch of uglies have made a civilization. She finds out that being pretty takes away much more than ugliness.. This book is so carefully detailed and brings you into this fictional world. It makes you think about what you really want. It also shows how society made people believe themselves to be ugly - because they didn't look like everybody else. Westerfeld really did a great job in writing a fascinating plot with hidden meanings underneath.Fiction8th Grade

Since the book takes place in an EDU, the characters change and recover throughout the novel. Some of the characters have defined goals like a girl who wants to become a professional ballerina. Others are still lost in their world. The main character just wants to get through the day. He doesn't have a long term goal. He just lives in the moment. I also liked the action and suspense in this novel. In one part, a girl runs away and they are looking for her. Even though their are not a lot of interesting words in the book that is okay for me because i don't like to read words I never heard of or even know. The Summer I Turned Pretty
Jenny Han Yes I loved the book, The Summer I Turned Pretty, for many reasons. First, I love books that deal with real life problems. For instance, it addresses Belly's boy problems throughout her summer. Every year Belly spent the summer at her mom's friend's house and for many years, Belly has had a crush on the same friend's son. The son, though, views her as his little sister. What to do to change this? I recommend this book to anybody that enjoys reading about romances.Young Adult8th Grade

The Boy in the Striped Pajamas
John BoyneYesI really liked this book because once I got interested in it, I could not stop reading it. This book was about a nine-year old German boy (named Bruno) who moved away from Berlin to live in a rural area that is the location of a concentration camp. The new house is located in a secluded area where there are no neighbors. What there is, however, is a huge fence. One day while at the fence, he meets another nine-year old kid who happens to be Jewish (named Shmuel). The boys become friends, and day after day Bruno goes to the fence to see Shmuel. I could not stop reading it; everything about the book was interesting and it was about the Holocaust. To me, it was like a movie playing in my head. All of the details in the book were so vivid and clear I could picture exactly what was happening. I am really interested in historical fiction books and I would like to read more of them. I would recommend this book to eighth graders only because in our Social Studies class we are learning about the Holocaust and we would understand it more than the sixth and seventh graders.historical fiction8th Grade

I liked this book because it discusses the topic of labels. The List is about a school, that every year before homecoming a list of the prettiest and ugliest girls in each grade is put all over the school. The book starts with each of the girls finding out they are on the list and continues on with their reactions and how their lives are effected by the list. This book was really good and I recommend it to other girls as well.

I really enjoyed this book because I like creepy, yet mysterious stories. This book had some weird and somewhat scary parts but I couldn't put it down. It is about a girl named Eve, who doesn't remember who she is. She was told she was put into a witness protection program to hide from a serial killer. Every night she has vivid dreams of her memories, but by day she doesn't remember and is completely normal. Then she learns she has supernatural powers and begins to use them to remember who is out to kill her. I would highly recommend this book to anyone who likes to be scared or just likes a good mystery.

I enjoyed this book in many ways. First, the characters in this novel were interesting. The main character, Chloe, falls asleep in Study Hall and wakes up with a different life. She was a B+ student, but got amazing SAT scores. Her best friend won't speak to her, but she has new friends that she never thought of ever talking to. Also, the plot in the story is gruesome. Chloe's psycologist, Dr. Kirkpatrick, was murdered. She knows Chloe is figuring out why she can't remember, and tells the person who did this to her. He murders Dr. Kirkpatrick and is searching for Chloe next. As a result, I found this book interesting and I would recommend it.

I liked this book because I thought it had a really good story. This book is a prequel to The Maze Runner series. In this story, Mark is the main character. At the beginning of the book, the sun flares strike and Mark only survives because he is on the subway, and he is with Trina, his neighbor. Then, in the tunnels, they meet a few other people, Alec, Lana, and others. On their way through the tunnels, they get attacked and then a tsunami comes. They barely escape and hide in a building. Then, they steal a boat. Mark tells all this through dreams. Then, while in a village, people in blimps shoot at them with darts carrying a disease. Soon, Mark and the others find their base, and learn the disease is called the Flare. They get caught and only narrowly escape. They find a girl who got shot by a dart but is immune. They decide to take her to the base where they have a transporter that leads to Alaska, where their HQ is. They send the girl through and the book ends. I enjoyed reading The Enemy by Charlie Higson very much. It was packed with action, and I like anything that has to do with survival of the fittest. If you are looking for something with Zombies and danger at every turn and add in no one to trust, than this is the book for you. This book is about two groups of survivors coming together after being enemies for years and taking on a journey to get to Buckingham Palace. The story is set in modern day London, where the infection of the zombie virus started. Anyone who was over the age of eighteen was infected with the virus, so only kids survived. I don't want to give too much away, so if you feel this is the book for you, I would take a shot at it. The book is only 452 pages so it should take you less than a month. And if you really like the book, there are four more in the series.
