ID Card Design Brief and Rubric

Choose to make an ID card based on one of the following design briefs:

Student ID Card (School ID)

The principal of your school is tired of the old student ID cards and has asked you to design a new one. The challenge is to create an ID card that communicates the message that you are a student at your school. The new ID cards need to include a photo of the student, the name of the student, name of the school, the name of the school district, the school districts logo or mascot, and a student ID number.

Employee ID Card (generic)

You work as a designer in the marketing department of a large company and been asked to redesign the company’s employee ID cards. The new design must show the company’s name, the name and position or title of the employee, the company logo, and the location of the store, plant, or office.

Example:

The Philadelphia Eagles have just adopted a new logo and need to update their ID cards. As an intern in their marketing department you have been given the opportunity to submit a new design. The new ID cards must include the name of the employee, a picture of the person named, their position with the organization (head coach, assistant coach, offensive coodinator, trainer, quarterback, running back, etc.), the season (year), and the eagles new logo.

Credit Card

Visa has decided to offer a contest to come up with new credit card designs. They want to offer designs that appeal to a variety of people and therefore have very little parameters. The only requirements are that the new card designs must include the credit card number, the expiration date, the card holder’s full name, and the Visa logo.

Trading Card

A major manufacturer of trading cards has decided to offer a design competition to come up with next years designs. The competition is open to anyone and they are looking for new card designs for their baseball, football, soccer, basketball, ice hockey, and Star Wars trading cards. The new card designs must include a picture of the athlete or character, their name, the team, organization, or side they are on AND logo, and their position, title, or rank.
