The following safety rules must be understood and obeyed at all times.
Please read these rules carefully, fill out the fields below before your first class.

JOAD archers who disobey a safety rule will be immediately asked to leave the range, their parents will be called to pick them up, and that will be their last day in our JOAD program. The JOAD archer will be barred from the facilities.

Adult archers who disobey a safety rule will be either immediately asked to leave the range and barred from the facilities, or given one warning, depending on the severity of the offense. A further disregard for any safety rule will result in immediately being barred from the range and facilities.

ALWAYS OBEY THE WHISTLE COMMANDS
2 whistles to step to the shooting line
1 whistle to shoot
3 whistles to step over the shooting line and get your arrows

ONLY SHOOT WHEN A USA ARCHERY CERTIFIED INSTRUCTOR IS IN THE SHOOTING RANGE.
Shooting in the range without an instructor when other people are present in the range will result in immediate and permanent dismissal.

ALWAYS STAY BEHIND THE WAITING LINE WHEN YOU ARE NOT SHOOTING.

ONLY LOAD YOUR BOW WHEN YOU ARE IN POSITION ON THE SHOOTING LINE.

ALWAYS POINT YOUR LOADED BOW DOWN RANGE AT YOUR TARGET.
Pointing your loaded bow at another person or turning around and pointing it at an area behind the shooting line is grounds for immediate dismissal.

NEVER DRY FIRE YOUR BOW. NEVER LET THE STRING GO WITHOUT AN ARROW IN THE BOW.
This can result in your bow exploding, the limbs cracking, the gold nock locator flying off the string and hitting you or other people, or other unpredictable consequences.

DO NOT TALK TO ARCHERS WHEN THEY ARE AT FULL DRAW ON THE SHOOTING LINE.
This is distracting and could result in the archer turning around at full draw with a loaded bow and pointing it at you or other people!

DO NOT STEP OFF THE SHOOTING LINE OR WALK AROUND RANGE WITH A LOADED BOW.

NO WHISTLING IN THE RANGE.
This can be confusing, and may result in archers crossing the shooting line while others are still shooting.

NO RUNNING IN THE RANGE - AND ALWAYS WALK FORWARDS.
Arrows sticking out of the target wall are closer than you think. Running with arrows is dangerous!

ALWAYS KEEP ONE FOOT BEHIND THE SHOOTING LINE UNTIL YOU HEAR 3 WHISTLES.
If you step over the shooting line with both feet it is grounds for immediate and permanent dismissal!
If you drop an arrow or something else in front of the shooting line, you can retrieve it if you keep one foot behind the shooting line.

ALWAYS SELECT ARROWS THAT ARE AT LEAST 1.5 INCHES LONGER THAN YOUR DRAW LENGTH.
If you shoot arrows that are too short, this can result in the arrow slipping off the bow rest and onto your hand, and you shooting through your hand!

HOLD YOUR ARROWS WITH TIPS POINTING DOWN.
Do NOT throw, toss, fling, flip or spin arrows like a baton.

ALWAYS LOOK BEHIND YOU WHEN PULLING AN ARROW,
so you don't hit a person standing behind you. If you are standing behind a person pulling arrows, move.

ALWAYS WEAR AN ARMGUARD AND FINGERTAB.
The armguard protects your arm from the string hitting and bruising your arm, and the fingertab protects your fingers from nerve damage and blisters.

I understand and agree to abide by these safety rules, and understand that disobeying any of these rules may result in my immediate dismissal from Archery Training Center.
