What is the Job Shadowing Day Series?
The Center for Career Services, in partnership with the Veterans Career Initiative and Operation VALOR, will organize a series of visits to various employers in the area. Center for Career Services staff will manage outreach to develop a list of participating employer organizations. Student  who participate will have their career interests matched with representatives with employers who most closely align to those interests.

Please note that you can sign up and attend multiple events!
What are Job Shadow Days?
Individual students will be able to spend time with a specific employer mentor to accomplish the following goals:
I. Allow students to have the opportunity to observe a work environment they may have a career interest in
II. Gain a better understanding of the type of jobs available within a specific work environment and the best ways to launch a career within that industry
III. Network with interested employers and learn about issues that vary from job expectations to accommodations.
IV. Develop a mentoring relationship with an employer, where appropriate.

What happens on site?

It is anticipated that each student will spend a minimum of two hours on site and receive an orientation and tour and have the opportunity to meet with leaders and staff to better understand the mission and vision of the organization.

Who is this program for?
This program is for VALOR students (Military, Veteran, and family/dependents) at whatever point you are in your academic progress through GW (junior, graduate student, recent alumni, etc). This program can help you figure out future career barriers and success strategies and will certainly help you understand how to conduct a better job search.
