Each group has a section to add their ideas, data, comments, etc... | Lab write ups or procedures. | Peer Editing or feedback using the commenting and suggested edits feature. | Plan and create crosscurricular units or projects with colleagues. | Reading or discussion journals. Students write their journal entries and the teacher can respond to entry and provide feedback regularly. | Collaborative writing. Teacher provides a prompt, students write a response for 1 minute, document is shared with the next student who reads what the person before them wrote and then continues the story until it is time to share again. Original student finally gets their paper back to write the ending of the story. | Class newsletter. 4 | Presentations | Group presentations. Each group member is assigned a separate section of the presentation and is responsible for adding their content. | Whole class presentation. Each student assigned a slide to create with their information that is then shared with the entire class within one document. | Virtual art gallery or museum. Slide show of various "artifacts" that students can view. Allow the commenting feature to enable students to have a conversation about the items they are viewing. | Graphic novel page. Students work together or on their own using a slide to create a page to transform a story or concept into a graphic novel page that can be shared with the class. | Peer editing or feedback regarding slides using the commenting feature. | Vocabulary Slides. Individual or whole class presentation. Each student creates a slide based on their assigned vocabulary word. The slide should contain the word and an image that represents the meaning of the word. In the notes section of the slide students can type the definition. The presentation can then be used as a review, assignment, or quiz over important vocabulary words. | Children's book. Take an event or topic and create a childrens story using Google Presentation. Each slide should contain text and images that tell a story about the event or topic.
5 | Spreadsheets | Entry or exit task where each student has their own row in a spreadsheet to type their responses. | Data collection 1: Create a spreadsheet for students to input their data collected from a lab so the entire classes results are available instantly. Results then can be compared or graphed for analysis. | Data collection 2: Compare data from around the world. Students researching various countries or regions can input data on the spreadsheet to compare literacy rates, population, economy, etc.... | Sign up sheets for project topics, presentation times, appointments, etc... | Students track their progress on a specific skill, standard, or subject. Progress can be graphed to create a visual representation of their progress and then analyze their results. | Collaborative Dictionary. Students help build vocabulary by contributing to a shared spreadsheet. Students add terms, definitions, and synonyms/antonyms to words they come across in their readings that they needed to look up. The list grows as students add terms. | Create a spreadsheet to calculate measurements or data using a formula. For example, students can determine the difference in weight based on planets. They could create a spreadsheet where you can type in a different weight value on Earth and have it calculate the weight value on another planet.
6 | Forms | Polls or surveys. Teachers and students can gather information quickly from a variety of sources. | Formative assessment through quizzes, entry, or exit task. | "Choose your own adventure" stories. (ie. students grade classmates presentations or projects).
7 | Sites | Digital portfolios for student work. | Class site where students can contribute and share resources, project ideas, discussion boards, etc.... | Theme site about a broad topic (i.e. WWII). Students are assigned a topic within the theme and each student creates a page on the site about their topic (ie. Allied Leaders, Axis Leaders, etc...). | Share lessons, activities, assessments, and resources with department colleagues. | Project site. Students create a site to organize and report out the various stages of a project. | Book review site. A class site is created and students add pages for each book they choose to read throughout the year. On their page the student will provide a review of the book they read, a description of the author, and rate the book. Students can use this site in order to help them choose books to read and/or to respond to classmates reviews and provide their own comments. | Science Journal.
