What is your deepest hope for yourself and your community? What
transformation do you want to see in your story and in the story of your neighborhood? Stories of personal and communal experience can be powerful assets in the process of healing and development. This workshop is designed to prepare artists, youth workers, community and congregational leaders, teachers, social service professionals, and nonprofit organization personnel to integrate arts-based storytelling experiences effectively into their work. Join us for a hands-on exploration of arts-based storytelling. Participants will experience and learn community storytelling techniques, the healing potential of transformative art, and the supporting arts-based theories. Julia Crawford will present visual art and therapeutic movement as effective tools for supporting, connecting, and transforming people and places. She will address issues faced by those working in transitional communities, communities experiencing poverty and loss of resilience and identity, as well as issues faced by displaced people.
