Starting March 1, every time that a coach or team wishes to use the coach boat, the motor will be inspected both before and after use. Teams are not allowed to go into the containers to retrieve a motor unless accompanied by Dragon Zone staff.
In a situation where another team wishes to use the coach boat immediately after the previous team, the next team is responsible for inspecting the coach boat engine. Any damage or problems must be reported to a staff member prior to use. Once the next team begins to use the engine, they are fully responsible for any damages and issues. On completion of use, the current team will have a Dragon Zone Staff member inspect the motor prior to being returned to the container.
A Dragon Zone staff member will collect all the keys for our motor container from all teams starting March 1.
As you probably know, there have been lots of repairs and damage to the motors over the past couple of years because of carelessness and lack of knowledge on the part of some users.
To ensure that the motors are always in good operating condition (and thus increasing availability), the following rules will apply for the use of this equipment at Dragon Zone Paddling Club, effective immediately.
1.) Anyone who wishes to use the coach boat MUST have a valid Pleasure Craft Operator Card on them at the time they wish to take the coach boat out on the water. It is the law. This includes staff.
2.) All coach boat users MUST successfully complete our coach boat orientation, regardless of who you are and how many times you have used the boat in the past.
3. ) The team and coach MUST take full responsibility for damage and loss to the motor. The cost of a replacement motor is $3,490 plus taxes. If a motor is dropped into salt water, it is deemed lost. A waiver acknowledging this MUST be signed by the team captain and manager acknowledging this responsibility before a coach boat is reserved.
Future sessions will be scheduled as needed but you will not be given access to a coach boat until you have successfully completed the orientation.
Please e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org if you wish to attend an orientation.
