UFCU Local Food Microgrant - Grant Cycle 2 Application
Urban Food Connections of Utah (UFCU) is pleased to offer a limited number of microgrants to fund projects and programs created and designed specifically to increase the amount and variety of local sustainable produce available to Salt Lake City and Salt Lake County consumers. Funding will be provided to small-scale/start-up, commercial farms dedicated to producing primarily fruits and vegetables.

Microgrant funded projects could include:
- Bolstering small-scale and start up farming businesses with microgrants that foster sustainable farming techniques (i.e. water irrigation systems, increased storage capabilities, leasing or labor costs, solar panels, etc..);
- Providing microgrants to purchase organic seed;
- Funding for continuing education for farmers;
- Facilitating and providing funding for summer farm apprenticeships in partnership with students from USU or other agricultural programming.

Approximately $45,000 will be made available over the two year term of this grant. Minimum grant request is $500; maximum grant request is $5,000. Grant applications are due by August 25, 2017. Grants will be awarded by September 30, 2017.

The Local Food Microgrant Program is made available through funding partnership with SLC Green, Salt Lake City's Sustainability Department.
