You are invited to participate in the research project described below.
What is the project about?
The research project investigates where it is possible to intentionally foster purpose in youth through the use of the PURPOSE NAVIGATOR online intervention and if it is possible how is that purpose actually fostered practically.
Who is undertaking the project?
The primary investigators involved in this study are Professor Herb Marsh (Distinguished Professor Institute for Positive Psychology and Education, Australian Catholic University), Dr. Phil Parker (Institute for Positive Psychology and Education, Australian Catholic University), and Levi Brackman, MA, (PhD Candidate, Institute for Positive Psychology and Education, Australian Catholic University). It will form the basis for product research and scientific validity of the purpose intervention and its process.
Are there any risks associated with participating in this project?
There are no foreseeable risks in being involved with this study. If there is psychological distress from this study we recommend calling the Colorado Crisis Support Line on 844.493.TALK (8255).
What will I be asked to do?
The entire study will take between 8-12 hours of your time and all interviews (if applicable) will be recorded. All input on the PURPOSE NAVIGATOR app will also be stored for use in the study.
You will be asked to take a series of surveys and then participate in doing an online intervention using the PURPOSE NAVIGATOR app.
Most of the study will take place IN OUR Success Lab after school. You may however, be asked to participate in an in-person interview for the duration of an hour or maybe two hours.
How much time will the project take?

What are the benefits of the research project?
We believe that by participating in this study you will gain in purpose, happiness, life satisfaction as well as other potential benefits associated with increased psychological health and wellness.
Can I withdraw from the study?
Participation in this study is completely voluntary. You are not under any obligation to participate. If you agree to participate, you can withdraw from the study at any time without adverse consequences
Will anyone else know the results of the project?
The study will be published. Data will be stored both on the servers that store PURPOSE NAVIGATOR and on the researchers local computer. Only the researchers will have access to the data. The identity of the participants will be identifiable to the researchers. Confidentiality will be fully maintained by ensuring that only the researchers see the data. No participants name will be identified in publications unless written consent is explicitly sought and provided.
Will I be able to find out the results of the project?
Participants will be informed on results at the end of the study period.

The study has been reviewed by the Human Research Ethics Committee at Australian Catholic University (review number 2014 xxxx). If you have any complaints or concerns about the conduct of the project, you may write to the Manager of the Human Research Ethics Committee care of the Office of the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Research).
