Little Flower Spring 2015 Registration

The Little Flowers is an organization whose goal is to provide young girls, PreK-4th grade, with an opportunity to gather and learn about their Catholic heritage, faith, and traditions. The program is centered around learning Catholic virtues through the lives of the saints, Scripture, and the Catechism of the Catholic Church. Each virtue is represented with a saint, color, and flower, and a flower petal patch is given for completing activities for that virtue. The program is based upon “The Catholic Girl’s Guide,” edited by Fr. Francis X. Lasance and published by Benzinger Brothers in 1906. Within the section titled “The Maiden’s Wreath,” it outlined some virtues that a Catholic girl could develop in herself and ascribed these virtues to flowers as a symbol of their beauty and grace.

Last Fall, our Little Flowers completed Wreath 3: Responsibility, Patience, Cheerfulness, and Fortitude. This spring the Little Flowers will start Wreath 4 which includes saints from around the world and the virtues of Zeal, Acceptance, Docility, Kindness, Confidence, Endurance, Fidelity, Unselfishness and Kindness, Meetings will be held on Wednesdays from 2:15 - 3:30. The official schedule has not been made yet, but likely PreK-2nd will meet twice for each virtue, and 3rd/4th will meet three times for each virtue so that activities to earns the petal patches can be completed during meeting time. Snacks and crafts have been included in the fee. The spring tea will be be a day of prayer and fellowship.
