JOIN TASKFORCE HAIYAN -

November 10, 2013

Greetings of hope,

On behalf of the National Alliance for Filipino Concerns (NAFCON) and the International Coalition for Human Rights in the Philippines organizations in the US (ICHRP), we are making a heartfelt appeal to you and your organization to join us for an unprecedented people’s initiative to respond to the urgent request for international solidarity with the millions of victims Supertyphoon Haiyan (Yolanda). Since 2009, NAFCON has been leading national efforts in the United States, ensuring a way for people in the US to donate directly to the people in need of humanitarian relief in the Philippines.

The enormity and urgency of this crisis is alarming, surmountable only through uniting the goodwill and initiative of people around the world. With more than 12,000 feared dead, and millions affected, we know that the speed and sustainability of our relief efforts will help save lives. Our partner organizations conducting relief operations in the Philippines have stressed the need for immediate assistance. Urgent needs include access to clean water, food and shelter. Since November 8th, the outpouring of support from unions, churches and people’s organizations across the country has been inspiring.

We hope that you and your organization will join us to create and grow our people’s response here in the United States, uniting as Taskforce Haiyan.

On November 12, in New York City, some of the major convenors of Taskforce Haiyan will announce our next major international and national calls for support including an international relief and medical mission that will leave for the Philippines in the next few weeks.

We look forward to working together,

Katrina Abarcar, International Coalition for Human Rights in the Philippines
Terry Valen, National Alliance for Filipino Concerns
